Chapter 1895: Freedom Even Death Cannot Grant
โJump then, Elektra! If you think that will grant you freedom.โ
Roxanne stepped onto the rooftop, feeling more at ease with her husband calmly beside her. She doubted Elektra's death attempt would sway him. Elektra, guilt-ridden, avoided her gaze. Stunned by Roxanne's wordsโshe'd expected pleas, not icy contemptโElektra froze.
โRoxanne, donโt worry, Iโll jump! I just wanted to apologize. Iโm still jealous. I canโt accept that youโre with Lucian.โ Elektra offered a bitter smile.
โSave the sweet talk. You can apologize, but I choose not to accept it. I have no desire to forgive you. You had countless chances to stop everything while we collaborated. You could have told me about Christinaโs threats, but you remained silent!โ
Roxanne moved to Lucianโs side; he gently took her hand, a gesture that felt like a dagger to Elektraโs heart. The ironyโhere she was, on the brink of death, and they were flaunting their love. She was speechless. Roxanne was right; she had a chance to redeem herself, but sheโd lost her rationality.
โElektra, I donโt know why you summoned me. You could have ended your life privately. Am I right?โ Roxanne asked, her voice laced with disdain. She saw Elektra's suicide attempt as a pathetic attempt at manipulation, a desperate ploy now that everything was revealed. Roxanne desperately wanted to prevent Elektra from guilt-tripping Lucian.
Elektra, overwhelmed by Lucianโs placid expression and Roxanneโs intense interrogation, fell into despair.
โI guess weโre done here. Youโve apologized, Iโve heard you. Lucian and I are leaving. If you jump, itโs your decision.โ
Roxanne turned to her husband, receiving an encouraging look before they left hand-in-hand. The sight left Elektra utterly despondent.
Roxanne was right; she was selfish, using death to manipulate Lucian. To her dismay, it didnโt work. She couldn't elicit any emotion from him, dead or alive. A turmoil of emotions stirred, memories of her childhood with Lucian flashing through her mind. Everything was over, irreversible. Even death wouldn't ease the pain. She watched blankly as they vanished.
Roxanne and Lucian descended swiftly in the elevator. Their future happiness took precedence. Elektra would have to face the consequences of her actions.
โLucian, thank goodness you saw through it! Otherwise, Flora Verba Group and I would have been destroyed! Iโve learned my lesson. Iโll be more discerning in my career,โ Roxanne sighed in Lucianโs car, berating her own foolishness.
โForget it. Youโre exhausted. No need to be more meticulous. They just got lucky. I donโt want you to become a workaholic,โ Lucian said, affectionately caressing her hair.
