Chapter 1909: Help Out

Inside a Crescent Valley Hotel suite, Grant and Winnie frantically answered calls and texts. Grant, blacklisted due to bankruptcy and debt evasion, operated under strict limitations; initially, he couldn't even access such a luxurious establishment. His son-in-law's ownership of the hotel, however, eliminated the need for registration. His creditors, too, had offered a reprieve, recognizing the impossibility of him repaying tens of millions within his lifetime. News of his daughter's impending marriage to the Farwell Group CEO had softened their stance, affording him more time and a surprising increase in politeness. The prospect of a connection to the Farwell family promised a lifetime of wealth.

Winnie's relatives showered them with congratulations, their own social standing seemingly elevated by Roxanne's marriage to Lucian.

"The Farwell family's hospitality is incredible," Grant boasted. "They've even put us up in a five-star hotel. Don't worry, the few million I owe you is nothing now. I always said I, Grant Jarvis, would make a comeback!"

"Yes, yes, dear cousin," another voice chimed in. "Quit congratulating us. I heard your daughter married well, too. Still, she can't compare to Roxanne. Fate, I suppose."

"We must go," Grant said. "We're preparing for tomorrow's wedding. Our son-in-law will be here soon. We're swamped."

The couple expertly navigated the flurry of calls and messages, lying without a trace of discomfort. Once the deluge subsided, Grant and Winnie exchanged triumphant grins.

"Grant, I heard Roxanne founded Flora Verba Group," Winnie exclaimed. "Even without the Farwells' help, she should support us, right?"

The information, gleaned from conversations with relatives, surprised her.

"Really? The billion-dollar Flora Verba Group?" Grant's excitement was palpable. He'd initially worried about financial assistance from the seemingly cold Elias and Sonya Farwell. Now, the news of his daughter's vast corporation filled him with joy. "Billions! Even a small share would be more than enough for us. Those tens of millions I owe are insignificant."

"That's right," Winnie confirmed. "And she owns a research institute, a hospital, and a pharmaceutical company! I never expected her to be so successful! The Jarvis family will be prestigious!" Her lifelong dream of wealth seemed within reach.

Winnie's loyalty to Grant wasn't solely driven by affection; he'd always maintained their comfortable lifestyle. Even while evading debts, they hadn't suffered greatly. Their blacklisting, however, impacted their children. Their son, Yosef, excelled on university entrance exams but couldn't attend a top school, eventually leaving Horington and severing ties. Their daughter, Yuliana, lost a promising job due to Grant's circumstances, resorting to working as a tour guide and rarely visiting.

Now, all their hopes rested on Roxanne. Though Winnie admitted a lack of deep emotional connection with her eldest daughter, they were family, and Winnie believed Roxanne, now wealthy, should contribute to their well-being.
