Chapter 1924: In Mortal Danger

Roxanne politely refused. She was employing the Cerulean Needle Technique's final move, a challenging procedure requiring exceptional mental fortitude and improvisation. Her mentor always pre-set needle depths to prevent accidents during head acupuncture, but Yennefer's bloodshot eyes, agitation, and dangerously high blood pressure demanded immediate action. The strain on her heart was critical.

Roxanne urgently addressed Jones: "Mr. Lann, we must treat Mrs. Lann immediately. We need to stabilize her condition; otherwise, her high blood pressure and strained heart will endanger her life."

Jones nodded solemnly, his face etched with helplessness. "I know. I've hired many psychologists, but her immediate agitation upon waking prevents any calm period for treatment."

"Perhaps I can help, if you trust me," Roxanne offered.

Jones's face brightened. "Of course! I'm grateful. Whatever methods you use, you have my full support."

Roxanne quietly explained her plan to Lucian, whispering in his ear. She lacked confidence, fearing Jones's disapproval. Lucian, however, nodded reassuringly, indicating he would convey the message.

Jones looked confused. Lucian intervened, explaining: "Mr. Lann, Roxanne suggests we immerse Mrs. Lann in hot water before acupuncture. This should improve her mental clarity."

Jones readily agreed. "That's fine. Why worry about that now?" He was willing to try anything.

Reassured by Jones's acceptance and Lucian's encouraging glance, Roxanne sterilized her needles with an alcohol burner, assisted by Lucian. Once prepared, Jones carefully carried his wife to the bathroom, undressed her, and gently lowered her into the tub of hot water, as Roxanne instructed. Even asleep, Yennefer frowned at the heat.

Roxanne immediately began working, saying, "Mr. Lann, please leave, but ask the housekeeper to stay."

Jones left, and the housekeeper entered. Roxanne instructed her to support Yennefer while she began inserting needles into the back of her neck, meticulously placing and twisting each one to precisely stimulate the acupuncture points.

"Ma'am, please turn her," Roxanne requested once the back was treated. The housekeeper struggled to hold Yennefer steady, preventing her from slipping underwater. Soon, both women were drenched in sweat.
