Chapter 1927: Did Not Die
The couple didn't know how to resolve their predicament. Even with his immense power and her unparalleled medical skills, some situations left them helpless. As they pondered, angry yelling erupted from the mansion's living room. It was Yennefer.
โWhat nonsense! I'm not sick! How could I be? Jones, come here! Who are these people? Are they really invited by Lucian? I don't want to talk to them, or cooperate with this investigation!โ
Jones hurried to his wife's side, shaking his head at Professor Zucker and the others, signaling them to leave.
โBut Mr. Lann, Mrs. Lann must first acknowledge her illness. She can't avoid it. Without that, how can we guide her?โ Robertโs solemn expression emphasized his point. The other doctors nodded. โPsychological intervention guides patients to recognize their situation, not evade it. Mrs. Lann needs to face this and understand the reality; her twin sister is deceased.โ
Before they could continue, Yenneferโs face froze, then fury erupted. โWhat balderdash? My sister, Sheba, is in Xendale, managing our Lann Group subsidiary! You know nothing!โ Anger filled her eyes. โGet out! Aren't you psychologists supposed to be making products? Jones, bring Lucian. Has he been deceived by these people?โ
Lucian and Roxanne entered, hearing Yenneferโs words and exchanging astonished glances. Yennefer, not Sheba, had always managed the Lann Group. In Yenneferโs subconscious, her sister had never died; she attributed all her achievements to Sheba. The root cause remained Shebaโs death years ago.
Robert and the other psychologists grimaced. Noticing Lucian, Yennefer immediately complained, โLucian, check these people's backgrounds. Are they trying to scam you?โ
โIs that so? I'll interrogate them, then,โ Lucian said, placating her. It worked; Yenneferโs expression softened.
โYou must investigate thoroughly. Seven or eight years ago, Sheba was almost deceived by a supplier!โ Yennefer seemed confused again.
Lucian approached, smiled gently, and offered her water. โMrs. Lann, calm down. I'll question them.โ He then turned to Robert. โLetโs pause. Tonight isn't appropriate.โ
โMr. Farwell, while your business achievements are impressive, we're more professional in handling Ms. Thompson's issue. Your approach isn't beneficial,โ Robert retorted, his tone laced with fury.
Lucian nodded, acknowledging Robertโs point, but still dismissed them. Robert and the psychologists left, looking upset. Lucian thought, Professor Zucker's emotional control isn't up to par. He claims to be a specialist, but neglected the patient's condition.
Jones comforted his wife. Roxanne, to help Yennefer regain composure, started a conversation about the upcoming wedding, shifting Yennefer's attention.
