Chapter 1942: Reprimand

"I don't know what to do, Roxanne. That's why I'm calling you for advice," Madilyn said as soon as the call connected. Even though she excelled at giving relationship advice, she felt utterly helpless when facing her own problems.

After listening to Madilyn's story, Roxanne understood her friend's feelings and offered comfort. "Right now, Jonathan doesn't know the nature of his relationship with Coralie. Even if she's interested in him, she's just a rival. You're a wonderful person; what are you afraid of? Just stay calm; Coralie is merely a patient."

Her words reassured Madilyn. Madilyn then went to Coralie's room to check on her. Coralie was in a double room, but the morning's discharge of patient number 38 left her alone. Jonathan was there, asking how she was.

Coralie, grinning, coyly asked, "Can you peel an orange for me, Mr. Queen?"

"Oh, sure," Jonathan replied. His slightly slow reaction seemed cute to her.

Just as Jonathan peeled the orange, Shawn burst in. He had learned about Coralie's accident upon a morning call with his sister and immediately flown to Horington. His expression darkened upon seeing a man with his sister.

Recognizing Jonathan, he muttered, "Jonathan Queen? So, you're Coralie's friend. Were you not paying attention to the road? Is that how she got into such a serious accident?"

Before Jonathan could react, Shawn approached him aggressively. "You're..." Jonathan was still unaware of Coralie's identity, though he recognized Shawn from previous interactions with his sister, Frieda.

He turned to Coralie. Color drained from her face; she desperately wanted to keep her identity hidden. Knowing Jonathan was Lucian's subordinate and that her brother had a strained relationship with Lucian, she feared Jonathan would distance himself if he knew who she was. She certainly hadn't expected her brother's arrival.

Unable to conceal her identity any longer, she blurted, "This is my older brother, Shawn."

Jonathan frowned instantly. He'd been a business rival of Shawn's and knew his sister had invested considerable time and effort in Shawn to no avail. He clearly disliked Shawn.

"I question your driving skills, Jonathan. How did you get into an accident while picking up my sister? You even sent her to the emergency room! How incredible!" Shawn glared at Jonathan.

Panicked, Coralie explained, "It's not what you think, Shawn. It was an accident. A truck hit his car from behind. It's not his fault!"

Ignoring Shawn's reprimand, Jonathan looked at Coralie with disappointment. "I didn't expect you to be from the Crawford family, Ms. Crawford."

"I'm sorry for hiding it," she replied. "But you never asked."

He nodded. "You're right. My mistake. Knowing that beforehand would have changed things." He then turned to Shawn. "It was an accident, Mr. Crawford. As Ms. Crawford's friend, I regret this happened to her. However, I don't think you have the right to berate me."
