Chapter 1943: Transfer

"Since I'm here, Jonathan, I'll take care of my sister from now on. You can leave," Shawn said, surprised by his sister's apparent fondness for Jonathan. He scowled, suspicion hardening his gaze. "Did you leak our organization's overseas plan to Jonathan, Coralie?"

Coralie was stunned by his accusation. "What do you mean? Haven't you figured out why the company failed? How can you blame me?"

"You're awfully close to a core member of our competing company. I may not suspect you, but someone else might," Shawn retorted, a scornful smile playing on his lips as he glanced at Jonathan.

Jonathan understood the implication. He shook his head, a cold smirk twisting his lips. "It seems you're unfit to be Lucian's opponent. Your plan is too petty. I just learned Coralie is your sister. Do you think I could have gotten any intel from her?"

A palpable tension filled the room. Coralie interrupted sharply, "Are you here to visit me or question me, Shawn? Now that you've seen I'm fine, you can leave!"

Shawn, silenced by his sister's exasperation, remained firm. "Why should I? It's normal for me to care for you until you recover. You should tell him that."

Jonathan, about to leave, said, "I'll take my leave, Ms. Crawford. The medical bills are paid, and the truck accident will compensate you as well."

Coralie, distressed by Jonathan's angerโ€”a first for herโ€”glared at Shawn with contempt. Madilyn then arrived, ready to examine Coralie. Hearing Jonathan was about to be dismissed, Madilyn's anger flared.

"I'm the hospital director. Please be quiet while visiting a patient," she said professionally, addressing Shawn. "Are you a family member? Did you register? If not, please do so now."

Jonathan was surprised by Madilyn's timely arrival. Shawn, angered by the reprimand, sneered, "This hospital belongs to Roxanne Jarvis, right? It's a small hospital. How dare you act so ostentatiously before me?"

"It seems you dislike our hospital, sir. In that case, please transfer the patient to another institution," Madilyn retorted, equally sharp.

Witnessing this, Jonathan decided to stay, standing beside Madilyn, concerned for her safety. Coralie recognized Madilyn immediatelyโ€”the woman Jonathan often interacted with while she was away. She noted his protectiveness and felt a pang of jealousy. "She's so much more beautiful than me," she thought resentfully.
