Chapter 1954: I Will Make You Pay
As Grant left, the three children watched his departing silhouette. Estella quickly asked, "Daddy, Mommy, isn't Granddad pitiful?"
Archie and Benny immediately corrected her. "No, Essie. Granddad isn't pitiful; he's always treated Mommy badly."
Estella nodded thoughtfully. Lucian and Roxanne remained silent, respecting the children's observations. The family continued their camping games until darkness fell.
Returning to his cramped apartment in the dilapidated neighborhood, Grant found Winnie on her phone, dinner uncooked. His anger ignited. "What's wrong with you? Why isn't dinner ready? Do you think you're some rich housewife?"
Winnie glared. "Why should I? I'm not your wife. You had five million, and you saved nothing! And 'rich housewife'? You know how I suffered with you all these years. Now that Roxanne's doing well, it's ironic you're in this mess!"
Grant's rage flared. "Why blame me? Roxanne wouldn't have cut ties if you hadn't bullied her! If you're so unhappy, leave!"
"Damn it, Grant! You can't kick me out after the divorce! Do you have a conscience? Roxanne and Archie are coming, and they won't forgive you when they find out! And you expect me to cook?"
Winnie's anger mounted. She'd envisioned luxury after marrying Grant, not this debt-ridden coward. She grabbed her phone, put on new high heels, and began packing. "Fine, I'll leave! Have your father-daughter reunion. Enjoy your money!"
Grant stopped her. "This is the plan! I have to look pitiful, that's what Mr. Crawford wants. This gets me close to Roxanne. Once I'm wealthy, you'll have the life you dreamed of. Please don't leave. I'll get a personal loan for a new phone and clothes."
Winnie's anger subsided. A piercing screech from their broken gate heralded a woman's arrival. She wore a frosty expression and white office attire. Grant and Winnie were stunned, then overjoyed.
"Yuliana, you're back! My precious daughter!" Winnie noted her daughter's expensive necklace. Grant anxiously avoided Yuliana's gaze, fearing questions about the divorce.
"Dad, Mom, have you seen Roxanne? That bitch is doing well, yet she didn't invite you to her wedding?" Yuliana's anger was clear.
Winnie nodded, recounting events with embellishments, mentioning Grant's visit to the children. Yuliana glared at her father. "Dad, what's the meaning of this? You have no shame! She cut ties, and you're ingratiating yourself with her? I don't care about your motives, but I'll make her pay for what she did to Mom!"
