Chapter 1966
When the children returned from school, Roxanne told them their godmother wished to see and play with them. All three happily agreed and waited for their godmother's arrival. Twenty minutes later, Madilyn arrived at the manor and took the children away.
Roxanne then discussed with Lucian their plan to tell Elias and Sonya about her pregnancy.
"Dad, Mom, Lucian and I have something to tell you," Roxanne said calmly to her parents-in-law.
Her solemn tone startled the couple, who immediately assumed something serious had occurred. They reasoned that if their son and daughter-in-law needed their help, the matter must be significant. Roxanne, however, hadn't perceived any issue with her tone. Lucian, in contrast, beamed at his parents upon entering the room.
"Lucian, what happened?" Sonya asked anxiously.
Lucian and Roxanne exchanged excited glances, then quickly asked Sonya and Elias to sit down.
"Dad, Mom, why are you so nervous? Roxanne and I want to tell you some great news!" Lucian grinned.
Roxanne, noticing their tension, decided to be direct.
"Dad, Mom, our family may be welcoming a fourth child soon!"
"What? Really?"
Elias and Sonya were stunned, exchanging incredulous glances before beaming with delight.
"Roxanne, are you telling the truth? You're finally pregnant? This is such a pleasant surprise!" Sonya clapped her hands, then, enraptured, rose, walked to Roxanne, and took her hand.
Elias, equally overjoyed, scratched his head. "That's great! What should we do next? Sonya, you must start preparing nourishing foods for Roxanne!"
Sonya nodded vigorously. "Absolutely! Roxanne, hurry and write down everything you want to eat and drink. I can make anything, even if I have to learn!"
Lucian anticipated this reaction. "Dad, Mom, don't get too excited. I've already signed up for antenatal classes. Dad, you'll be in charge of the children, while Mom will handle meals. Let's all prepare to welcome the fourth child."
Lucian, as CEO of a large corporation, was efficient in delegating even household tasks. Roxanne hadn't expected such a commotion. A surge of bliss filled her heart; this child felt especially blessed.
She voiced her thoughts, "Dad, Mom, Lucian, I appreciate your effort. However, we must avoid favoritism. We must treat all the children equally, and not focus too much on the new baby. Let's not make too much fuss."
Elias and Sonya nodded in agreement. Lucian, startled by Roxanne's insightful warning, inwardly resolved to treat each child fairly.
