Chapter 1965: Go With the Flow

A faint coffee fragrance soon filled the living room. Even Roxanne enjoyed two cups, savoring the pleasant aftertaste. Lucian and Jonathan chatted casually, discussing famous tourist spots and cultural stories. Jonathan seemed a changed man.

โ€œLucian, Iโ€™ve fully recovered and think itโ€™s time to return to work,โ€ Jonathan announced, a decision reached after careful consideration.

Lucian, unhurried, simply glanced at Jonathan and sipped his coffee. โ€œAre you sure youโ€™re alright now?โ€ he asked calmly.

Jonathan nodded, his eyes calm and peaceful. โ€œLucian, I used to feel pressured, but the business world suits me; itโ€™s where I shine.โ€

This was a recent realization. Heโ€™d once believed everyone felt pressured by the pursuit of personal gain. However, since meeting Madilyn, her influence had been profound. For Madilyn, her role as hospital director wasn't just a job; it was a passion. This, in turn, made Jonathan realize his family's medicinal herb business could help millions. His collaborations with Lucian had elevated the industry and created jobs.

These revelations finally dispelled the doubts and despair that had plagued him for twenty years. Seeing Jonathanโ€™s determined expression, Lucian was reminded of their youth, when they'd pursued their dreams with shared enthusiasm.

โ€œItโ€™s wonderful youโ€™ve regained your confidence,โ€ Roxanne smiled. โ€œJames is managing Flora Verba Group successfully. Youโ€™ll oversee Snuggly. Weโ€™ll make it the countryโ€™s leading childrenโ€™s clothing brand.โ€

Jonathan readily agreed. After further conversation, he departed.

Roxanne immediately called Madilyn, curious about her role in Jonathanโ€™s transformation. Madilyn was puzzled. โ€œWhat did I do? I havenโ€™t noticed anything. Iโ€™ve been overwhelmed with patients from a recent accident and havenโ€™t seen Jonathan much lately!โ€

Roxanne was surprised; she'd assumed Madilyn had subtly encouraged Jonathan. โ€œSo, how far has your relationship progressed?โ€ she asked.

โ€œHonestly, not far. We havenโ€™t even held hands,โ€ Madilyn replied calmly. She explained her approach: letting things unfold naturally, avoiding being too proactive or passive. โ€œIโ€™m going with the flow. Iโ€™ve stopped worrying. Perhaps I donโ€™t hold enough weight in his heart. Speaking of which, Coralie recently settled her medical bills and asked me to return the money Jonathan paid on her behalf.โ€ A hint of weariness colored her voice.

Roxanne understood Madilynโ€™s awkward position, offering only words of self-care and urging her not to overwork. โ€œBring the children over when youโ€™re free. My mother wants to try out her new dishes.โ€

Madilyn agreed. With Madilynโ€™s demanding work schedule and Lorraineโ€™s adjustment to a new country, Roxanne felt it beneficial for the children to spend more time with Lorraine.
