Chapter 1969: Did Not Want To See Me

Madilyn didn't want the children's information leaked online. She shot them a look, shook her head, and said, "Don't answer him. You don't need to explain. We had a lot of fun tonight, so let's end it here."

The brothers nodded and left the game.

"You did great today, Aunt Madilyn! Your performance was much better than before," Benny praised.

A warm feeling filled Madilyn at his sweet words. Archie, however, resembled Lucian in his thoughtful silence, a slight frown creasing his brow. After a moment, he said, "Aunt Madilyn, you should practice using support characters. It would improve your repositioning."

Madilyn agreed. These two boys excelled at any game they played.

At nine o'clock, Lorraine brought Estella downstairs with a scented sachet the girl had sewn. Estella, with a serious expression, said, "Aunt Madilyn, this is for you. If you have a favorite flower, you can sun-dry it and put it inside. I'm sure it will smell nice!"

Madilyn gratefully accepted the sachet. "You're amazing, Essie! I can't believe you sewed such a beautiful pattern on your first try. You're just as talented as your brothers!" She hugged Estella and kissed her cheek.

Watching the three children, Lorraine smiled, envying Sonya and Elias. She murmured, "Maddy, when do you think I couldโ€”"

Madilyn interrupted, "Stop it, Mom! You need to stop nagging me every time you see the kids. I'd love to have children, but I don't have anyone to have them with."

Sensing more nagging, Madilyn quickly gathered the children and left, driving them to a dessert shop for ice cream. She reminded them, "Don't tell your parents about this, okay? No ice cream next time if you do."

The children readily agreed, smiling brightly. They knew betraying their godmother meant missing future treats.

After dessert, Madilyn drove them home, chatting until they reached the Farwell residence. "Mr. Farwell, all three children are safely home!" she reported.

Lucian nodded, urging the children upstairs; their mother awaited their bath. Madilyn quickly waved goodbye and drove off before Lucian could speak. He was about to mention Jonathan was in the living room, having coffee and reviewing his work โ€“ a missed opportunity for Madilyn and Jonathan to interact.

Driving away, Madilyn felt conflicted. She had seen Jonathan's car, yet felt apprehensive about seeing him lately. Since the incident with Coralie, her feelings toward Jonathan had changed. She couldn't quite figure it out. She sighed, deciding to go home and play; Archie and Benny were right, she needed to practice support characters. Her rank hadn't improved for several seasons, and it was distressing.

Meanwhile, Lucian returned to the living room to find Jonathan reviewing financial statements. "Jonathan, didn't you notice Madilyn was here?" Lucian asked.

"Was she? Why didn't she come in?" Jonathan stood, looking outside. Lucian shook his head. After a moment, Jonathan's face fell. He murmured, "Does she not want to see me?"
