Chapter 1977: Using Me

Despite Roxanne and Lucian's assurances, Madilyn felt intensely pressured. The hospital atmosphere was chaotic and panic-stricken. Gossip and exaggeration fueled the growing unrest. The hospital's landline constantly rang with worried relatives calling to check on loved ones. Many voiced dissatisfaction with the hospital's perceived lack of professionalism, some even threatening legal action against the executive staff. Several demanded their relatives be transferred to another facility; upon being refused, they threatened complaints.

Shortly after, family members surged toward the hospital entrance. Several vehicles nearly collided with the building as angry relatives hurled insults. Reporters quickly arrived to document the unfolding chaos.

"Centers for Disease Control leaders, please allow us access to interview patients! How severe is this situation necessitating closure?"

"Families are distraught. We need the truth! Please interview Dr. Marilyn Xander and inform the public."

"The hospital's refusal to transfer patients has sparked significant online controversy. We request entry!"

From her office across the street, Christina watched with a satisfied smirk. "Roxanne and Madilyn are contaminated. Their only hope is Mr. Goldstein, who holds the vaccine. It all depends on Lucian's terms."

Her joy unconcealed, she revealed her innermost thoughts.

Coralie recoiled. "Mr. Alphonso Goldstein of Starlight Group? This isn't revenge against Roxanne and Madilyn; you're seeking profit! I was a pawn? I thought you were helping me!"

Christina remained calm. "Ms. Crawford, my motives are irrelevant. You get your desired outcome. A public outcry would be disastrous for Madilynโ€”removal from her position, even criminal charges."

"But you used me!" Coralie insisted, deeply unsettled.

The hospital entrance remained a scene of pandemonium. Suddenly, a Rolls-Royce screeched to a halt, blocking the crowd. All eyes turned to the vehicle.

A figure emergedโ€”Jonathan, impeccably dressed in a tailored suit, exuding an impressive presence. His expression was grim, his gait purposeful, somehow reminiscent of Lucian.

He sharply addressed the crowd, raising a hand for silence. Surprisingly, the clamor subsided. Reporters began snapping photographs.

"Hello. I am Jonathan Queen. Please be quiet and listen." His voice, though not loud, carried authority. His composed demeanor reassured the families, who awaited his words. His attire and vehicle suggested importance.

Gaining confidence, Jonathan continued, "I represent Dr. Madilyn Xander. First, the situation is under control; a resolution is expected within three hours. Second, I'll answer your questions, but please maintain composure."
