Chapter 1976: Starlight Group

Roxanne turned to Lucian. "It's Starlight Group in Hawen, Lucian!" she whispered.

Lucian's face fell, his brows furrowing. Madilyn, witnessing their reaction, was perplexed. "What is it? Is there something special about Starlight Group? I remember it being the largest international trading company in Hawen, isn't it?"

Lucian nodded. "Yes, but there's a strong chance they won't give us the antidote."

"Why?" Madilyn asked, still puzzled.

Gloom settled over Roxanne. "Because Starlight Group's owner is Mr. Goldstein. He's with Christina Patel. You know Christina, right?"

Madilyn's jaw dropped. Christina? The mastermind behind Elektra's incident? Aubree Pearson, the woman who nearly killed Roxanne and was once Lucian's fiancée!

"So, this is all part of Christina's scheme," Lucian said, a dangerous glint in his eyes. He'd been wary of Christina, but hadn't imagined this level of deceit. This was a slap in the face. That woman! It seemed she was confident Roxanne would help, hoping to infect her as well. She probably didn't know Roxanne was pregnant. Her ruthlessness was appalling.

Noticing Roxanne and Madilyn's panic, Lucian calmly glanced at the screen. "I'll handle acquiring the drug. We won't need Starlight Group. You two focus on the infected. I'll need about an hour."

Madilyn was stunned. Roxanne, too, was incredulous. Even with Moranta Pharmaceuticals and the fastest flight, an hour seemed impossible. Yet, seeing Lucian's confident expression, an idea struck her, and she smiled.

Madilyn was bewildered. How could they remain so calm?

"I'll make a call. It'll be quick!" Lucian said, hurrying from the office.

"Roxanne, what's your plan? Tell me! Over twenty doctors and nurses are infected. We need a lot of medication!" Madilyn's anxiety was palpable.

Roxanne chuckled. "Don't forget my research institute! With the production process, we can develop a similar drug within two hours. We have plenty of time."

Understanding dawned on Madilyn. Of course! Roxanne had formulated an antidote when Jack poisoned her. Relief washed over her.

Soon, CDC personnel arrived, seeking Madilyn's report. She rushed to the conference room.

Lucian returned, calm and composed. "I paid three hundred million for the medication's composition. It'll arrive in fifteen minutes. Then, inform Old Mr. Lomax to begin production. It won't take long. And… I think I'm infected too. I have a cough."

He coughed, confirming his words.

"Lucian! Christina is vicious! I wish she could feel what it's like to be this sick!" Roxanne seethed.
