Chapter 1979: Captured
A cruel smile stretched across Christina's face, her eyes glinting with sinister intent. The immediate crisis had been quelled, but the pathogenic bacteria's breakout within a few hours was inevitable. In six to eight hours, a rapid spread was anticipated, resulting in numerous severely ill patients; containment would be impossible as the bacteria would breach the hospital's walls.
What did Roxanne's medical capabilities matter? Relying solely on traditional medicine was inefficient, even outdated. Acupuncture was merely a psychological effect.
Having decided, Christina grinned, sauntering toward the parking lot. As she exited the building, several figures rapidly approached.
"Confirmed. It's her. Get her!"
The bodyguard leader checked his phone, confirming their target. Mr. Farwell's instructions were clear: capture her swiftly, even if physical force was necessary. Heโd brought a large contingent to prevent another escape.
Seeing Christina alone, the leader immediately went on alert. Suddenly, she was surrounded. Fear jolted her; her eyes widened in shock.
"You're Christina Patel!" the lead bodyguard shouted.
Christina froze, then shook her head in denial. But her expression betrayed her. The bodyguards stood firm, their faces unyielding. A chill ran down her spine; her heart pounded.
Overwhelmed, she instinctively grabbed her phone. I must report this to Mr. Goldstein immediately! He's my only hope.
But the bodyguards were faster. Their veteran reflexes were razor-sharp. Before she could use her phone, they snatched it.
"Who are you? What's going on? Someone, help me!"
Her cries for help were ignored. They swiftly struck her neck. Christina blacked out, her body falling limp. Before she hit the ground, two bodyguards lifted her onto their shoulders and carried her to their waiting vehicle.
Aware of the onlookers, the leader sought to avoid repercussions. An idea struck him. "Quickly, get her to the hospital! She's fainted!" he barked. "This is my younger sister. She suffers from a mental disorder. We've finally found her and are taking her to the hospital across the street."
They rushed Christina to the hospital.
Back in the hospital director's office, Lucian's phone rang. It was the bodyguard leader.
"Mr. Farwell, we've captured Christina Patel," the leader reported grimly.
"Good. Bring her to the director's office," Lucian commanded, his expression hardening. I was right. Christina is behind this.
Lucian knew Christina well enough to anticipate her next move. She thrived on the power of her creations. He ordered his bodyguards to secure the entrances of the three high-rises opposite the hospital. He hadn't expected such a swift capture.
