Chapter 1980: Not Interested in Talking

“We’ve captured Christina Patel!” Lucian announced casually.

Roxanne, engrossed in a conversation with Peregrine about vaccine replication, paused mid-sentence, realizing she’d missed Lucian’s announcement.

Madilyn, having heard him, repeated, “Mr. Farwell said he’s captured Christina Patel, the culprit behind this crisis.”

“Old Mr. Lomax, if the problem is solved, please proceed with the next step immediately. We’re racing against time; over thirty hospital patients have been infected.”

After hanging up, Roxanne finally processed Lucian’s words. “Darling, did you anticipate Christina’s actions and devise a plan to capture her?” Her admiration was evident in her effusive praise.

Lucian, initially tense, felt a wave of embarrassment under her compliments.

“Where is she? I want to slap her!” Madilyn’s arm trembled with anger.

“She’ll be here soon. I’ve instructed my bodyguards to bring her,” Lucian replied, glancing at Roxanne, fearing her emotional response.

To his surprise, she seemed relieved and calm. “She’s framed me countless times; I’m finally seeing her today,” she said quietly.

Madilyn exclaimed furiously, “Roxanne, you must ensure this woman is punished for her immoral, malicious behavior! She should be imprisoned for her cruelty!”

A knock came at the door.

“Mr. Farwell, we’re here!”

“Come in!” Lucian ordered.

The door opened to reveal an unconscious Christina. Her plastic surgery was evident, though the limited options in Hawen resulted in a uniform look among patients. Roxanne, however, recognized Aubree’s figure instantly.

After unceremoniously throwing Christina to the ground, the bodyguards straightened, awaiting Lucian’s dismissal.

“You may leave,” Lucian waved them away. They promptly exited.

Madilyn scrutinized Christina, muttering angrily, “Why’s she unconscious? Is she faking? Let me get water to splash on her!” She hurried out.

Roxanne felt a surge of conflicting emotions. “Lucian, she’s been in this office; she’ll soon be infected with the bacteria,” she stated.

Lucian nodded curtly. “That’s the plan. And she’ll receive no treatment unless Mr. Goldstein has the vaccine.” His voice was emotionless. Christina’s numerous attempts on Roxanne’s life had erased any lingering identification with Aubree.

Even without Lucian’s intervention, Christina faced life imprisonment.

“Honestly, there’s no need to speak with her. It’s pointless,” Roxanne said, no longer interested in engaging Christina.
