Chapter 1980: Not Interested in Talking
โWeโve captured Christina Patel!โ Lucian announced casually.
Roxanne, engrossed in a conversation with Peregrine about vaccine replication, paused mid-sentence, realizing sheโd missed Lucianโs announcement.
Madilyn, having heard him, repeated, โMr. Farwell said heโs captured Christina Patel, the culprit behind this crisis.โ
โOld Mr. Lomax, if the problem is solved, please proceed with the next step immediately. Weโre racing against time; over thirty hospital patients have been infected.โ
After hanging up, Roxanne finally processed Lucianโs words. โDarling, did you anticipate Christinaโs actions and devise a plan to capture her?โ Her admiration was evident in her effusive praise.
Lucian, initially tense, felt a wave of embarrassment under her compliments.
โWhere is she? I want to slap her!โ Madilynโs arm trembled with anger.
โSheโll be here soon. Iโve instructed my bodyguards to bring her,โ Lucian replied, glancing at Roxanne, fearing her emotional response.
To his surprise, she seemed relieved and calm. โSheโs framed me countless times; Iโm finally seeing her today,โ she said quietly.
Madilyn exclaimed furiously, โRoxanne, you must ensure this woman is punished for her immoral, malicious behavior! She should be imprisoned for her cruelty!โ
A knock came at the door.
โMr. Farwell, weโre here!โ
โCome in!โ Lucian ordered.
The door opened to reveal an unconscious Christina. Her plastic surgery was evident, though the limited options in Hawen resulted in a uniform look among patients. Roxanne, however, recognized Aubreeโs figure instantly.
After unceremoniously throwing Christina to the ground, the bodyguards straightened, awaiting Lucianโs dismissal.
โYou may leave,โ Lucian waved them away. They promptly exited.
Madilyn scrutinized Christina, muttering angrily, โWhyโs she unconscious? Is she faking? Let me get water to splash on her!โ She hurried out.
Roxanne felt a surge of conflicting emotions. โLucian, sheโs been in this office; sheโll soon be infected with the bacteria,โ she stated.
Lucian nodded curtly. โThatโs the plan. And sheโll receive no treatment unless Mr. Goldstein has the vaccine.โ His voice was emotionless. Christinaโs numerous attempts on Roxanneโs life had erased any lingering identification with Aubree.
Even without Lucianโs intervention, Christina faced life imprisonment.
โHonestly, thereโs no need to speak with her. Itโs pointless,โ Roxanne said, no longer interested in engaging Christina.
