Chapter 2028: A Star for Mommy

When Lucian called from the living room, "It's my turn, darling! Come down quickly!", the children's laughter filled the air. Roxanne's face lit up as she descended the stairs with her three little ones. She remembered Lucian's birthday gift to Aubree years ago and wondered what surprise he had planned for her. A playful thought crossed her mind: If his gift doesn't measure up, I'll have to remind him of past grievances!

As they reached the hallway, the lights suddenly went out. "He's using the same trick! He did this when he proposed," Roxanne murmured, maintaining her composure. The children, however, were unfazed; they'd rehearsed this with their father.

Then, a breathtaking galaxy filled the hallway, illuminating everything with a brilliant, realistic display of stars and nebulae. It felt as if they were soaring through space. The scene shifted, showing Earth receding into the distance, its familiar landmarks shrinking until only the blue sphere remained.

"Wow! It's so realistic!"

"It's amazing! The galaxy is so beautiful!"

"Traveling through the universe is fantastic!"

The children exclaimed in wonder. The view changed again, revealing the planets orbiting Earth: Mercury, Jupiter, Mars, Saturn... Estella even pointed out Pluto, noting its demotion from planetary status. Roxanne, though less overtly enthusiastic, felt a dreamlike awe. But she waited. Where was Lucian's gift?

As the scene continued to shift, the children cried out, "Mommy, we're going to the moon! That's our moon!" "Hey, someone's on the moon!" "Oh wow, Daddy's on the moon! How did he do that?"

Roxanne's attention was captured. In the distance, a figure stood on the lunar surfaceโ€”Lucian. Initially, she dismissed it as a projected image, but the more she watched, the more convinced she became of its reality.

Step by step, Lucian approached, his gentle smile and affectionate gaze visible even from afar. He carried a rose in one hand and an exquisite box in the other. Suddenly, he detached himself from the moon and floated towards them.

The cosmic display in the hallway dimmed, reality returning. Countless stars converged around Lucian as he descended gracefully.

"Wow! Daddy came back from the moon!"

"Daddy is so cool! He picked stars for Mommy from the sky!"

"Television dramas don't lie. Daddy got stars from the sky for Mommy!"

Lucian, in a tailored gentleman's tailcoat, landed before Roxanne, an angel bearing flowers and gifts. The woman sighed inwardly, admitting, "Oh, well! He won! It's so romantic!"
