Meanwhile, as Cayden accelerated, Roxanne asked him to slow down; she wasn't in a hurry. Lucian, beside her, looked up from his phone. "Orchid seems to have a knack for choosing opportune moments," he remarked nonchalantly. "Last time, when your Epea research institute thrived, she swooped in, took over management, and claimed all the credit."

A wry smile touched Roxanne's lips. "The same old trick," she replied.

"Why don't you fight back?" Lucian wondered.

Roxanne's eyes darkened. "I wouldn't have built my team without her," she explained. "She leveraged her Dartan connections, secured significant investments, and gave me a chance to realize my dream. She also helped me financially after Archie and Benny were born, when my income was limited."

That was why Roxanne hadn't fought back. She'd always produced high-quality, low-priced medicines, benefiting many patients, before the takeover. She simply hadn't anticipated Orchid's swift move—seizing management within a year. Though Harvey was GK Group's key figure, Orchid held considerable sway over investments and finances.

Lucian shook his head after hearing her story. "You're too kind. You built the team and led it to success; you deserve your share. Orchid's treating you as a money-making tool. She knows your capabilities but doesn't compensate you fairly. It's outrageous!"

Roxanne nodded in agreement. However, as long as GK Group bore her mentor's name, she couldn't betray him.

Upon arriving at the research institute, Lucian helped her from the car and they walked to the lobby. A commotion drew their attention; hundreds of employees were gathered outside, blocking Orchid and her team. Orchid's subordinates displayed a range of emotions—panic, indifference—but Orchid herself wore the grimmest expression, her eyes icy.

"Ms. Jarvis is here!" someone shouted.

Colby and Peregrine rushed to them. Before Colby could speak, Peregrine, agitated, exclaimed, "Roxanne, we can't just hand over the institute! It's our blood, sweat, and tears! We don't care about GK Group; we want you to lead us!"

More employees surrounded Roxanne. Noticing their frustration, she raised her hands to calm them. "Calm down, Mr. Lomax. I haven't received any news from headquarters. But I'll try to work things out with Orchid!"

Earlier in the car, Lucian had urged Roxanne to stand up for herself. Now, surrounded by supportive employees, her determination grew.

But as Roxanne finished speaking, Orchid strode forward, fixing her with an icy glare.
