Chapter 2041: Married Twice

Returning from their trip, Madilyn and Jonathan learned the hospital had been sold, and Madilyn's directorship was now largely ceremonial.

“Roxanne, what happened? Why did the hospital change hands? Shouldn’t you explain?” Madilyn demanded.

Roxanne calmly requested Madilyn come to the manor for a discussion. Jonathan arrived first, presenting Roxanne and Lucian with an assortment of regional delicacies.

“Lucian, Roxanne, Madilyn and I brought these back for you and the children,” Jonathan announced, radiating youthful energy. “I hear you have wedding plans?” he teased Lucian.

Jonathan readily confirmed, “Yes, we’re setting a date. I’ve sent Mrs. Xander to discuss it with my parents.”

Roxanne expressed surprise. “You and Madilyn have progressed quickly!”

Despite a slow start, their relationship had blossomed rapidly.

Madilyn soon arrived, finding Lucian and Roxanne enjoying coffee.

“I heard you were fired,” Madilyn stated.

Roxanne nodded.

“So, the hospital, research institute, and pharmaceutical company are all gone?” Madilyn pressed.

Roxanne confirmed this.

“Oh my goodness! You’re a rich man’s wife, but what about me? I need this job to support my family! Roxanne, you owe me an explanation!” Madilyn exclaimed, her temper rising. She only restrained herself from further criticism due to Lucian’s presence.

Jonathan, having bundled his many gifts with tape, offered one to Madilyn through Roxanne.

“Come on, Roxanne. Tell me what happened,” Madilyn insisted.

Roxanne recounted the events, assuring Madilyn, “Don’t worry. You can still be the director in the future; I’m going to build a bigger hospital!”

The hospital and pharmaceutical company had been consistently losing money until Madilyn's appointment as director, resulting in a slight profit increase. GK Group consequently put it up for sale. Roxanne intended to reacquire it after relinquishing control.

Jonathan clarified GK Group’s structure and subsidiary companies, easing Madilyn’s anxieties about her job security.

Roxanne then teased, “Actually, you don’t have to work either. You can be a rich man’s wife too.” She pointedly looked at Jonathan.

Madilyn’s face flushed. She anxiously questioned Jonathan, “What did you tell them?” She feared he'd revealed her drunken antics.

Jonathan assured her, “I said nothing. I only mentioned our upcoming wedding. Don't worry.”

Lucian offered his congratulations and assistance with the wedding.

“Thank you, Lucian. You have more experience!” Jonathan quipped.

Roxanne and Lucian’s expressions instantly hardened.

Madilyn chuckled, “Hah! He’s right. After all, you’ve been married twice.”
