Chapter 2053: You Deserve to Rot in Hell

The pain inflicted on Winnie's nerves was short-lived. Within minutes, she rose to her feet, bits of snow clinging to her face as she gazed fearfully at Roxanne.

"If you don't want to experience such torment again, you'd better explain everything. How did you poison my mother?" Roxanne demanded, her eyes blazing. Lucian secretly activated a voice recorder.

"I really didn't do anything. Grant is dying, and he's still trying to slander me," Winnie replied, crouching. Her demeanor shifted. Her gaze flicked to the menacing bodyguards, then to her son's injured hand. A realization dawned: with Roxanne's power, bolstered by the Farwells, she could destroy Winnie's family regardless of her confession. A sneer touched her lips. Roxanne and Lucian both noticed.

"Why would he frame you? He wanted to protect you! Did you know he wanted to commit suicide to help you keep your secret?" Roxanne inwardly fought to remain calm, knowing that even revenge wouldn't truly make Winnie suffer.

"Suicide? Hahaha! Well, is he dead? Good. That guy doesn't deserve to live. What else has he brought to my children and me but misfortune?" Winnie's agitation intensified.

Roxanne wasn't shocked by Winnie's callous words. She'd had a difficult life with Grant in recent years, a fitting consequence, perhaps. Yet, he'd initially given her everything: a mansion, luxury cars, and unwavering devotion.

"Admit what you did. My mother was healthy until her health inexplicably deteriorated in her final years. Dizziness, falls, multiple organ damage. I thought it was grief, never imagining someone as monstrous as you."

Despite Roxanne's relentless questioning, Winnie's expression relaxed. Her mocking smile widened. "I know you're recording my confession. Too bad; an audio recording obtained through coercion isn't admissible in court."

Roxanne stared at Lucian, whose brows furrowed. He thought: She's more cunning than I anticipated. A mistress who carefully eliminated her husband, hiding her true nature beneath a veneer of vanity and apparent emotional incompetence.

"True, this recording isn't admissible evidence. However, it could reveal clues. For example, your words prove your guilt," Lucian said, producing the recorder. An icy glint in his eyes, he approached Winnie until he was a meter away.

Unfazed, Winnie nodded in agreement.

"It was you! Winnie Chardon, you deserve to rot in hell!" Roxanne's fury erupted.

Lucian quickly restrained her as she passed. "Don't go near her. She might have a weapon!" he warned.
