Chapter 2072: Puzzled
At the Jarvis residence, Bill received numerous calls from the bodyguards, updating him on Winnie and her family's movements. "As expected, they employed a devious escape plan," he reported to Lucian and Roxanne. "Two cars leftโone heading toward us, the other toward the airport. But they actually escaped via an underground taxi. However, their escape won't last long."
Lucian was surprised. His bodyguards were highly skilled professionals. He nodded calmly, acknowledging Bill's report. He noted the similarity between Yuliana's escape plan and Jack'sโboth opted for water transport, avoiding easily traceable planes and trains.
Roxanne, unconcerned with the specifics, trusted Lucian's assessment that they wouldn't escape. The pressing issue remained the evidence. Without it, stopping Winnie's family would be futile.
"Where would Mom keep her heirloom?" Roxanne mused, searching her memory to no avail. She turned to Lucian. "Is it possible Mother's heirloom isn't at the Jarvis residence?"
Lucian shook his head. "Your mother was bedridden for years. Unless someone assisted her, removing anything would be impossible. Besides, she intended to leave her belongings to you, so she wouldn't hide them where you couldn't find them. And she feared discovery by Winnie and Grant."
Bill agreed with Lucian's analysis. Roxanne, frustrated, exclaimed, "But we've searched everywhere! It couldn't be hidden in this reinforced concrete structure. We'd have to demolish the building!"
Lucian suggested, "Didn't you sell the house before? Madilyn bought it back. Could the buyer have found it?"
Roxanne shook her head. "No. The family bought it but never lived there. They emigrated afterward."
Bill frowned. "That's odd. Why emigrate after purchasing a significant asset like that property?" He decided to investigate the buyer.
Roxanne responded, "Today's Madilyn's big day. It wouldn't be right to disturb her. I'll ask her tomorrow."
Lucian advised Roxanne to rest, as finding the heirloom wasn't immediately crucial; preventing Winnie's escape was the priority. Bill echoed this, suggesting Roxanne leave and let him continue the search.
Roxanne and Lucian returned to the Farwell residence. An hour later, Bill texted Lucian: Yuliana's unlicensed boat had been seized by maritime police, and her car was en route back to the mansion.
Lucian was impressed by Bill's methods, noting their difference from his own. Bill, a retired police officer, maintained ethical standards, avoiding violence without sufficient evidence. Until then, Winnie remained a suspect. Later, even the four private investigators were politely removed from Horington by the bodyguards.
