Roxanne was perplexed by his nod. "It's almost time for breakfast. If you don't mind, we can have it together." Lucian calmly looked at the two of them.
Roxanne and Larry's expressions changed. They didn't understand Lucian's meaning. It took a moment for Roxanne to regain her composure. She forced a smile. "You're a busy man. I need to finish packing, and I don't want to waste your time. I'll eat later." Lucian smiled. "It's all right. I don't have much on my schedule today. I can wait." Roxanne's head began to ache. She smiled again. "I'm afraid you won't be accustomed to our food." Lucian remained unfazed. "Rest assured, I'm not a picky eater."
Roxanne was speechless. This man, at the top of the commercial world I've made it clear I don't want breakfast with him. He's doing this on purpose! What does he want? Her headache intensified. Finally, she used Larry as an excuse. "I need to tell Larry something after breakfast, and it won't be convenient for you to be present, Mr. Farwell." She looked pleadingly at Larry, who smiled warmly and turned to Lucian. "That's right. We need to discuss something. Could we have some time alone?"
Lucian, displeased by their collusion, calmly replied, "Is that so? I'll leave when you need to talk." Roxanne, unprepared for his persistence, was about to find another excuse when he mentioned the previous night. "You said you'd buy me coffee last night, Ms. Jarvis, but I ended up paying. And I drove you home. Considering all that, breakfast isn't too much to ask, is it?" He looked at her.
Roxanne relented. "Give me a moment. I'll change." She hoped he'd keep his word and leave afterward. She closed the door. Outside, Larry continued his warm smile, while Lucian's displeasure was evident; he disliked Larry's closeness to Roxanne.
After Roxanne finished packing, they went down to breakfast. Lucian's presence made Roxanne and Larry reticent. The atmosphere was tense. Lucian casually inquired about their plans. "What are you both doing after breakfast?"
Roxanne paused, looking up. "Why are you interested in our plans? Don't you have your own?"
Lucian pursed his lips. "It's not easy for friends to get together like this. Shouldn't we spend some time together?" He glanced at Larry and meaningfully asked Roxanne, "Or am I disrupting your couple's time, Ms. Jarvis?"
Roxanne's expression changed. "Don't drag anyone else into this!" Lucian bit his lip, silent. Roxanne looked away, her emotions turbulent. She didn't understand his intentions.
