Alfred's condition was complicated, leaving even the most renowned doctors unsure how to proceed. Colby spent considerable time simply describing his illness.

At six o'clock that evening, after Roxanne finished work, she went alone to the Queen residence, following the address Colby had given her. A middle-aged man in a butler's uniform answered the door. He politely inquired, "Greetings. May I ask who you are?"

Roxanne smiled. "Hello, I'm the doctor here to treat Old Mr. Queen. I called this afternoon."

The butler eyed her suspiciously; she seemed quite young. Could someone so young be capable? He concealed his doubt, however, and after a moment invited her in. "Since you're a doctor, please follow me."

He led Roxanne inside. She was unfazed by his skepticism; one of her principles was to accept any distrust before treating a patient. She followed him into the elegant courtyard, a clear testament to the Queen family's concern for appearances.

Once inside the mansion, the butler indicated a couch. "A visitor arrived earlier, and Mr. Queen is with them, seeing Old Mr. Queen. I'll let them know you're here. Please wait."

Roxanne nodded. "All right." She sat down. A housekeeper soon brought her coffee.

A few minutes later, she heard footsteps descending the stairs. Setting down her cup, she turned toward the staircase. A young, attractive couple strolled down, looking somewhat familiarโ€”possibly siblings. They were conversing with someone behind them, presumably the visitor the butler had mentioned. Roxanne followed their line of sight.

A tall, handsome man, holding a child, was speaking calmly to the siblings. He slowly turned, seeming to notice her gaze. Their eyes met, and her heart pounded.

Lucian! She hadn't expected to see him here. Memories of that night flooded back, making her eyes tremble. She could barely look at him, but after clenching her fists, she regained her composure, pretending nothing was amiss and focusing on the siblings.

On the stairs, Lucian paused, narrowing his eyes at Roxanne, studying her face as if for confirmation. When she looked away, his expression darkened.

It really is Roxanne! I thought it was someone else. Why is she here? He was surprised but maintained his composure.

"What's wrong, Lucian?" the man with him asked, noticing his hesitation.

Lucian looked away, replying emotionlessly, "Nothing. Let's go."

The man nodded, and the three continued down the stairs.
