Chapter 290: Applying Medicine

Archie and Benny were already awake when Roxanne arrived home. They immediately asked about Estella.

The boys were delighted to learn that Estella could talk again. Because Roxanne's wrist was injured, the boys refused to let her do anything and stayed by her side all day.

The next day, Roxanne wanted to go to work at the research institute, but the boys insisted she stay home.

"Mommy, you're hurt. You should rest," Benny said, giving her an imploring look.

Archie added, "We're afraid you'll get sick again, like last time."

They still remembered how upset they had been when Roxanne was sick previously.

Roxanne knew the children were worried. Since her wrist was injured, working would be difficult. She nodded in agreement.

After breakfast, the doorbell rang. Roxanne answered the door and was surprised by her unexpected visitors. "Why are you here?" she asked.

Lucian, wearing a casual coat, held Estella's hand. Estella carried an elegant bag.

Hearing Roxanne's question, Lucian nodded and gestured to Estella. "Essie is worried and wants to deliver medicine to you."

Estella offered the bag to Roxanne, confirming her father's words. "Ms. Jarvis, medicine," she said.

Lucian, accustomed to Estella's fondness for Roxanne, wasn't surprised by her speech.

Roxanne's heart melted at Estella's adorable voice. She took the bag and patted Estella's head. "Thank you, Essie."

Estella smiled obediently and gazed earnestly at the house.

Roxanne hesitated before opening the door wider to let them in.

Archie and Benny were playing with Lego blocks. They were delighted to see Estella and invited her to join them. They remembered how much they enjoyed playing Legos with Estella. They hoped playing together would cheer her up. However, Estella shook her head and stared intently at Roxanne.

Roxanne, unsure what Estella wanted, knelt down. "Essie, what do you want?" she asked.

Estella gently touched Roxanne's injured wrist, concern evident in her eyes.

Roxanne understood. Essie was worried about her injury.

"It's not serious. The doctor already dressed the wound," Roxanne reassured her cheerfully.

However, Estella pulled at Roxanne's clothing, guiding her toward the couch.

Roxanne complied and sat down. Estella then extended her hand. "Change the dressing," she said.

She then took a bottle of medicine from the bag Roxanne had placed on the coffee table.

Roxanne was momentarily stunned. Touched, she willingly gave Estella her hand.

After carefully removing the bandage, Estella pouted at the wound and blew on it twice.

Roxanne chuckled. "Essie, are you going to apply the medicine? It's fine. It might hurt a child, but adults don't feel it much. Just apply it."
