Chapter 307: Some Difficulties
When Lucian left Roxanne's house, two passersby outside observed him and immediately made phone calls.
Aubree arrived at the office and was about to begin a morning meeting when she received a call. Frowning, she instructed Charles to lead the meeting and went to her office to answer the call.
"Ms. Pearson, we've been monitoring Roxanne's residence for several days. Mr. Farwell and Ms. Estella visited yesterday and left this morning," the caller reported.
Aubree's expression darkened. Since Lucian had declared his intention to break off their engagement, she'd been spying on Roxanne to gauge the extent of his involvement. Surprisingly, despite days of surveillance, her team had only witnessed one brief visit from Lucian.
Initially, she dismissed her suspicions. However, Lucian had not only visited Roxanne again but had spent the night.
Aubree instructed her team, "Keep watching. Pay close attention to any men entering Roxanne's house."
They agreed.
After hanging up, Aubree stared blankly at her documents for a long time. Suddenly, she leaped up, sweeping everything onto the floor. Lucian had spent the night at Roxanne's! How intimate had they become? They'd even shared a room during the kindergarten's parent-child event!
Aubree recalled Lucian's explanation thenโa lack of rooms. Now, she suspected he'd lied.
That btch Roxanne! she thought furiously. She quietly left, but now she's shamelessly clinging to Lucian!*
Before the Pearson Group morning meeting concluded, someone opened the conference room door. The executives turned to see who it was, their confusion growing as they recognized the intruder.
"Ms. Pearson?"
"This meeting is adjourned," Aubree announced grimly. Before anyone could react, she addressed Charles: "I need to speak with you."
His expression grave, Charles immediately followed her to her office.
"What's the progress on the matter I assigned you? Who is the biological father of those two children?" Aubree demanded, her voice edged with madness. "I can't wait any longer. I won't let that b*tch have what I can't!"
Charles frowned.
Receiving no immediate answer, Aubree grabbed a file and threw it at him. "I'm talking to you! Are you deaf?"
Though accustomed to her temper, Charles's heart pounded as he replied cautiously, "Ms. Pearson, I I'm having trouble with this investigation."
"What do you mean?"
He glanced at her furious face, then quickly lowered his head. "Someone appears to have deliberately erased her overseas records. Our men have tried everything, but to no avail."
Aubree's expression darkened further. The office was tense; Charles barely dared to breathe.
A moment later, Aubree's voice cut through the silence. "I don't care what methods you use; find out. I refuse to believe she can hide everything!"
Charles assured her he would continue the investigation.
