Chapter 320: Children
Roxanne hadn't realized her illness had affected Archie and Benny so much. For a few moments, she was speechless. Reflecting on it, these two had been with her since birth. In their eyes, she was probably a superhero, always caring for and protecting them. They had never seen her this sick before, not twice. It was only natural they were frightened.
Silence hung in the air before she patted their heads, a complex mix of emotions swirling within her. "I'm glad you're worried about me," she said. "Since you're afraid I'll catch a cold, I'll just stay on land and watch you swim."
The boys exchanged glances, hesitated, then nodded obediently.
Roxanne smiled in relief. After packing up their things, they drove to the swimming pool. Anticipating frequent visits, she signed them up for a membership.
It was a pool in the mansion district; the atmosphere was serene, and the area quite large.
Being a weekend, many people were there. However, it wasn't overcrowded, and the water was so clean the bottom was clearly visible. The pool was divided into adult and children's areas. Archie and Benny were strong swimmers, and such distinctions weren't common where they had lived before, so she let them swim in the adult area.
The two cute children immediately attracted attention. People were amazed by their swimming skills.
Roxanne sat at the side, enjoying snacks and drinks, her eyes constantly on her children. Although she didn't plan to swim, she still changed into a swimsuit. It wasn't revealing, but it flattered her figure.
She sat cross-legged, relaxed, a smile playing on her lips as she watched her sons. Her complete focus was on them. Suddenly, a sleazy man's voice cut through the air. "Hello, gorgeous. May I ask your name?"
Roxanne's attention snapped back to reality; she subconsciously assessed him.
He wore only swimming trunks. He had a decent physique, but his expression was unsettling. Noticing her gaze, he narcissistically struck a few poses, introducing himself. "I'm a fitness instructor at a nearby gym. If you're interested, I can teach you a few things."
She offered a distant smile. "Thank you, but I'm not interested."
He stared greedily at her slender white legs and persisted, "If you're not interested in fitness, there's something elseโ"
Before he could finish, a child's voice interrupted.
"Leave my mommy alone!"
Seeing the man standing beside their mother, the boys immediately scrambled out of the pool and ran to her, glaring fiercely at the much taller and stronger man.
The man's expression changed at the sight of the children. "You have children?"
Roxanne instinctively moved to protect Archie and Benny, but they insisted on standing in front of her.
The man studied the children for a moment before returning his gaze to her. "I don't mind that. Well, if you're interested"
Her eyebrows furrowed at his words.
