Chapter 324: My Fault

At the hospital, Aubree received a call from a subordinate.

"Ms. Pearson, we've seen Roxanne driving toward a hospital."

Aubree glanced at Lucian, who was sitting nearby, and whispered, "Which one?"

"I think it's Primo Hospital," the subordinate replied.

Primo Hospital was Horington's best private hospital, and it was where Aubree was a patient. The news that Roxanne was heading her way sparked a glimmer in Aubree's eyes. "How long until she arrives?"

"About five minutes."

"Got it. Keep following her. Call me when she reaches the entrance."

"Roger."

After hanging up, Aubree set down her phone and cautiously looked at Lucian. He was engrossed in his company emails, so she reached for her water cup.

Suddenly, a crash echoed through the room. Aubree let out a muffled exclamation.

Lucian immediately turned to look inside the ward. He saw the shattered cup on the floor and Aubree leaning against the table, looking shocked. He frowned and entered the ward to clean up the mess.

"Lucian," she said timidly, "I'm sorry. I saw you were busy, so I tried to get the cup myself. I misjudged how much I could move. I'm so sorry I broke the cup and disturbed you."

She started to clean up the mess. "Your work is important. I can handle this."

Lucian stopped her. "Since I'm taking care of you, just call me if you need anything. Trying to do things yourself will only cause more trouble." Aubree bit her lip and stepped aside.

After cleaning up, he got a new cup of water and gave it to her.

"Call me if you need anything," he said, turning to leave.

Aubree glanced at the time. Roxanne would arrive any minute! Her heart pounded. "Lucian!"

He stopped and turned. "Yes?"

Embarrassed, she lowered her eyes. "I don't want to bother you, but I think you're right. Being stubborn only causes more trouble. I won't do it again. Could you help me find a doctor? My arm doesn't feel right."

Lucian frowned. "What's wrong?"

"It's my fault," Aubree apologized. "I think I touched my fractured arm when I reached for the cup. I don't know if it's been affected."

Her face was filled with concern and self-reproach. She seemed genuinely worried about inconveniencing him.

He looked at her cast and nodded curtly. "Let's go."

Gratitude flooded Aubree's face, but her thoughts raced. If we go out now, we'll run into that btch. I can't wait to see if she still dares to cling to him after seeing how he's taking care of me!*
