Chapter 334: Seeking Justice

Aubree nodded, biting her lip and avoiding Sonya's gaze.

Sonya sprang to her feet. "Come, let's get your hand examined."

Aubree stopped Sonya from opening the door to call Lucian. "Mrs. Farwell, it's best to keep this from him. Our relationship has only recently improved, and I'm worried that involving him might make things worse."

Sonya considered this for a moment, then nodded.

With Sonya's help, Aubree got out of bed, and they left the ward together.

As Lucian rose to follow, Sonya glanced at him. "I'm taking Aubree for some air. You can continue with what you're doing. I don't expect you to fuss over her so much."

Lucian had no intention of arguing. He considered caring for Aubree his duty, and he was relieved to be relieved of it. He nodded gratefully and returned to his seat.

At the orthopedic department, Sonya and Aubree saw Aubree's doctor. The examination results drastically changed Sonya's expression.

The doctor frowned at the X-ray. "Ms. Pearson, did something impact your injured arm recently? Your injury seems worse."

Before Aubree could answer, Sonya interjected, "Doctor, do you think she might have hurt herself accidentally?"

The doctor shook his head. "Based on this, it wasn't accidental. I suspect someone bumped into her."

Aubree had been lying.

Sonya's expression turned sullen. "Aubree, what really happened? Who hurt you?"

Aubree looked torn.

Sonya continued, "There are surveillance cameras everywhere. If you don't tell me, I'll check them. You were hurt because of me, so whoever hurt you is messing with me. Tell me the truth! I won't let this go!"

Aubree felt a surge of satisfaction, believing her pain was worthwhile.

Meeting Sonya's gaze, Aubree admitted reluctantly, "Ms. Jarvis accidentally pushed me into a wall. But she was rushing to get the children home, so I understood. And I didn't feel anything at the time, so I didn't think much of it."

She continued to make excuses for Roxanne.

Sonya's scowl deepened. Roxanne again! After seducing my son, she's aggravated Aubree's injury! And Aubree is defending her!

Understanding why Aubree wanted to keep it from Lucian, Sonya realized Aubree feared Lucian still had feelings for Roxanne and would blame her. This made Sonya feel even sorrier for Aubree. "Don't worry. I'll seek justice for you!"

Sonya left the examination room. Aubree hurried after her. "Mrs. Farwell, you've misunderstood. It was an accident. She offered to take me for an examination, but I said I was fine, so she left."

Sonya, biased against Roxanne, didn't believe her. Turning, she patted Aubree's hand. "Don't say anything else. Just rest. I'll visit tomorrow."

Sonya left angrily.

As Sonya left, an insidious glint flashed in Aubree's eyes.
