Chapter 339: Who Might Be the Culprit?
Lucian would not marry Aubree.
Sonya massaged her temples, glaring at her son. "Did you come here this early just to upset me?"
Lucian remained unperturbed. "I can send you to the hospital if you're unwell, but you can't force me to marry Aubree."
They were silent for a while.
Sonya waved him away. "Go. Get out of my sight."
Lucian nodded. "I've stationed men by the door. Call them if you need help."
Before Sonya could react, he left the cafรฉ.
"Heading back to the office, Mr. Farwell?" his driver asked respectfully.
Lucian frowned. Roxanne's house flashed in his mind. I wonder how she's doing. Did she mean what she said?
He snapped out of his thoughts. "Back to the office."
The car started moving toward the Farwell Group.
Cayden had waited for him all morning.
Upon exiting the elevator, Cayden greeted him, "I have updates, Mr. Farwell."
Lucian's eyes darkened. "Did you find the driver?"
"Not yet, but we found the car," Cayden replied. "Surveillance footage tracked its route after it left the parking lot. The driver took it to the suburbs, and we located it in a junkyard. The car's registration is fake, and it has no registered owner. The driver, whose face was covered, appears to have abandoned the car there only to later use it in the incident. I don't believe this was an accident."
Closing the office door, Cayden continued, "It's clear the driver knew the route. Disposing of the car at a junkyard is a way to destroy evidence."
Lucian nodded. Cayden was right. The driver's familiarity with the route and the attempt to destroy evidence pointed to premeditation.
"What next, Mr. Farwell? That's all we have. Who do you think did this?" Caydenโs investigation had yielded little. The police were stymied by the driver's concealed face. He sought Lucian's guidance. Only Lucian might know if this was personal.
After a moment, Lucian ordered, "Investigate all companies with grudges against Farwell Group."
Only Sonya and Aubree were in the parking lot. The driver seemed to have targeted Sonya. Lucian doubted his mother would offend anyone. The culprit was likely a business rival.
Cayden nodded and began making arrangements.
