Chapter 363: Obviously Blowing Him Off
Remembering their last meeting at the coffee shop, Sonya's message was clear: further contact with Lucian would have consequences. Roxanne hadn't seen Lucian since then, but she had made plans to relocate overseas with her children after concluding her business in Chanaea. Therefore, Sonya's attack was unhelpful to everyone, including Sonya herself. Roxanne's head throbbed.
Vexed, she tried calling Sonya, but received only automated responses; she had been blacklisted. Dejected, Roxanne turned to Colby.
"I'm sorry the research institute is affected by my personal matters."
Having overheard her conversation with Larry and noticed her change in demeanor, Colby understood the situation. He smiled gently.
"It's happened; let's focus on solutions."
Roxanne nodded. They both thought of the Queen family. In return for curing Alfred, the Queen family had promised medicinal herb supplies. Their agreement had influenced other suppliers, who now sought collaboration after initially refusing. The research institute worked with several suppliers simultaneously.
Roxanne knew these suppliers were pressured by the Pearson family, so she held no ill will. However, they hadn't sourced supplies from the Queen family recently. Perhaps they had surpluses? This gave Roxanne renewed optimism.
"Check with Queen Group about the ingredients we need. Since we didn't order earlier, time may be short," Roxanne said.
"Agreed," Colby replied.
He called Queen Group, but the call went unanswered for a while, causing them both to worry. Roxanne remained hopeful. Queen Group was a medical industry leader, and its good relationship with Farwell Group suggested Farwell wouldn't threaten them. Furthermore, she refused to believe Jonathan would break his word.
However, the call left her uneasy. Finally, someone answered. Colby, trying to remain composed, greeted the person cheerfully, "Hello, Mr. Tanner" but was abruptly interrupted.
"Oh, Dr. Galloway, we're in a meeting. Talk later! Goodbye!" The call ended. The frantic activity on the other end was evident. Colby's expression became solemn. Their institute was usually highly regarded due to Roxanne's success with Alfred; this was unprecedented.
The person was clearly blowing him off, complying with Farwell Group's wishes by refusing supplies. Roxanne knew Colby hadn't had a chance to explain before the call ended. His dejected expression mirrored her own.
