Chapter 364: It's Too Personal

"How did it go? Is Queen Group withdrawing its support?" Roxanne asked, frowning. Colby nodded grimly. His usually gentlemanly demeanor was replaced by a severe expression. Roxanne, unaware of the details, suspected the person in charge had angered him.

"It's not worth getting worked up over," she said nonchalantly. "This is my responsibility; I'll fix it." She offered a reassuring smile. However, Colby felt the situation was unfair to Roxanne and the research institute.

"How could a company like Queen Group break its promise?" Roxanne was surprised.

"Back then, no doctor could help Old Mr. Queen. Only your intervention saved him. They promised acquisition at half price! How can they renege?" Colby's anger grew.

Roxanne found Colby's outburst hilarious, so unlike his usual self. "I must reason with them!" He slammed his hands on the table, stood, and headed for the door. He felt familiar with the Queen family from his treatment of Alfred and was determined to intervene.

Roxanne, stunned by his impulsiveness, paused, then stopped him. "Let's not be rash. The Farwell Group is behind this; confrontation won't help. Calm down." She held his shoulders, pulling him back from the door.

Resettled, a sullen Colby asked, "Could I ask about your relationship with Lucian Farwell? Why would his company target our institute?" He realized how little he knew about Roxanne beyond work, a disheartening realization. Roxanne, unaware of his thoughts, was reluctant to discuss her involvement with the Farwell Group.

Silence fell. Calming down, Colby realized his strong reaction and intrusive questions. "Forget it. I was emotional. You don't have to tell me anything." He rubbed his forehead.

Roxanne apologized. "I can't discuss it; it's too personal. But I'll resolve the institute's problems."

Colby nodded. "Things at Queen Group aren't simple. I was friendly with Mr. Queen and Old Mr. Queen during my treatment. Let me handle Queen Group; I'll visit them."

Roxanne considered this, then said, "Stay at the institute. Address staff concerns about the medicinal ingredients."

Colby agreed.
