Chapter 368: Canceling the Collaboration

Back at the Queen residence, Alfred scowled after Roxanne's departure. His caregiver arrived to take him for his daily exercise, but Alfred snapped, "I won't be exercising today. You may leave."

Turning to Jonathan, he demanded, "You promised to collaborate with Dr. Jarvis's research institute. Why is this happening? You weren't even aware of the problem until Dr. Jarvis arrived. What if she hadn't demanded an explanation? Would Queen Group be known for breaking its word?"

Jonathan bowed respectfully, enduring Alfred's outburst. When Alfred finished, Jonathan admitted, "Grandpa, it was my negligence. I'll begin an investigation immediately and provide Dr. Jarvis with an explanation. Queen Group's reputation will not be affected."

Alfred banged his cane on the floor. "Investigate now! I'll investigate with you to find the culprit. We can't let one bad apple spoil the whole bunch." The Queen family's century-long reputation was at stake, and Alfred refused to let anyone tarnish it.

Jonathan looked perplexed. "Grandpa, I should go to the company to investigate. You should rest at home." Alfred needed to recuperate and couldn't travel far; Jonathan feared for his grandfather's health given his anger.

But Alfred interjected furiously, "Dr. Jarvis saved my life! I must take action myself. This will show how important she is to us. Let's go now!" He stood with the aid of his cane.

Jonathan's heart pounded as he rushed to support Alfred back to the couch. Hesitantly, he suggested, "Why not ask Rex Tanner to come here? You can question him personally. I believe he knows something."

Alfred readily agreed, settling onto the couch with a grim expression. Knowing Alfred's fury, Jonathan immediately called Rex, who oversaw the medicinal herb supply.

Rex's stomach dropped when he saw Jonathan's call. Feeling guilty, he answered, "Mr. Queen, what can I do for you?"

Jonathan ordered, "Come to the Queen residence now. I need to question you. Hurry." He hung up without waiting for a reply.

Despair washed over Rex as he stared at his now-dark phone screen. On his way to the Queen residence, he made a call.

The other person answered quickly. "What's wrong? Did Roxanne contact you?"

Rex's expression was grim. "Dr. Jarvis's research institute called, but I dismissed them."

The person chuckled. "Good job. Remember, canceling the collaboration was right; Roxanne is now Farwell Group's enemy."

Rex said hastily, "But Mr. Queen summoned me. I suspect it's about this. Didn't you say it was Mr. Queen's order? Why is heโ€ฆ" [The sentence containing the website advertisement has been removed.]

Rex had dared to dismiss Colby, assuming it was Jonathan's order. However, he sensed something was amiss. Mr. Queen never broke his word, and they had no connection to Farwell Group. There was no reason to mirror Farwell Group's stance toward Dr. Jarvis. Mr. Queen's earlier inquiry seemed suspicious. The more Rex considered it, the more anxious he became.
