Listen to this chapter:

The car stopped before the hotel. Bidding Larry goodbye, Roxanne entered the building.

The next morning, Roxanne signed the contract in Jasper's office at the scheduled time. Afterward, she boarded her flight home.

As soon as she settled into her seat, her frayed nerves relaxed. Upon arrival, her only task was to monitor the situation. Once the supplies from the various companies proved stable, she could leave the country.

Lost in thought, someone sat beside her. Roxanne glanced over, her expression hardening upon recognizing Lucian.

"Are you going to accuse me of stalking again, Ms. Jarvis?" Lucian's tone was mocking. He raised an eyebrow. "If you're uncomfortable, shall I switch seats?"

Roxanne clenched her fists, suppressing her displeasure. "Don't bother. I wouldn't ask a stranger," she replied flatly.

Turning away, she leaned back.

Recalling their encounter outside the banquet hall and observing her current demeanor, Lucian's anger flared. "Why are you alone, Ms. Jarvis? Where's Mr. Morrison? Why isn't he with you?"

At the mention of Larry, Roxanne sat upright, looking at Lucian with discontent. "There's nothing between Larry and me. Please refrain from speaking nonsense, Mr. Farwell." Lucian snorted. "Why did you assume I thought otherwise?"

Roxanne opened her mouth to reply, but hesitated. Instead, she indignantly pulled her blanket over her face, ignoring him.

What is his problem? As far as I know, Larry barely interacts with Lucian, yet he keeps pursuing him.

Lucian's eyes grew cold at her annoyance. He started to speak, but a flight attendant approached. He frowned, suppressing his anger.

The plane took off. Roxanne lay stiffly by the window. During the flight, she heard the flight attendants offer assistance, each time met with Lucian's cold refusal. Roxanne remained stubbornly averted. Yet, each time the attendant departed, his gaze fell upon her, making her uncomfortable.

Just as his eyes settled on her again, Roxanne threw off the blanket and sat up. She opened her mouth to speak, but Lucian interrupted. "The flight attendants say we might experience turbulence," he said, "and the plane may shake violently."

Roxanne's words caught in her throat. Confusion clouded her face. Before she could react, the plane jolted. Losing her balance, she lurched toward Lucian before her seatbelt restrained her.

She had barely settled when shouts and panicked questions erupted around her.

"What's going on? Will we land safely?"

"Are we going to die?"

The passengers, clearly terrified by this unexpected event, voiced their fears.

A flight attendant, speaking through the intercom, explained the turbulence and attempted to reassure the passengers. However, before calm was fully restored, the plane lurched again, more violently than before.
