Listen to this chapter:

Roxanne turned to him, her face etched with worry. "I had my eyes on them just now. Benny was still there before I approached the vendor," Lucian said. That suggested Benny hadn't gone far.

"I'll go look around," Roxanne said, frowning with distress.

"I'll come too!" Archie quickly added. Feeling responsible for losing sight of his brother, he felt compelled to help.

Seeing their agitation, Estella promptly declared, "I want to come along too!"

Without pausing to overthink, Roxanne started to lead the children. They had taken only two steps when Lucian stopped them. "Take the kids and wait outside. I'll look around here."

Roxanne wanted to refuse. "Benny's already missing, and it's crowded. Surely you don't want Archie and Essie to get lost too?" Lucian looked at her earnestly. His words made her hesitate.

In his deep voice, Lucian offered reassurance, "This resort is expensive; no one here would harm your son. We just need to worry about Benny looking after himself."

Roxanne lowered her gaze, composing herself before nodding. "Please help me find him."

Lucian acknowledged her, then waded into the crowd. Roxanne squeezed her way out with the children.

"Does Benny have his watch on, Mommy?" Archie asked when they reached a less crowded area. Roxanne looked down at the boy, who pointed to his own wrist. Each brother's watch had GPS tracking.

Roxanne felt a surge of annoyance. In her distress, she'd forgotten such an important detail. Recovering her composure, she immediately pulled out her phone to track her younger son's location. After a few taps, she saw the watch's position marker was still inside the hotel, unchanged. Benny hadn't worn it because he was too lazy.

Staring at the red marker, Roxanne's eyes welled up. It was the first time anything like this had happened since she'd cared for Benny. Despite Lucian's reassurances, her worry remained. Benny must be so afraid...

Seeing his mother's distress, Archie hung his head. "I'm so sorry, Mommy. It's my fault for not watching Benny..."

Looking at Archie, Roxanne suppressed her unease, patting his head reassuringly. "It's not your fault. It's mine. I failed to look after you both." She shouldn't have brought them into such a crowded place, but it was too late for regrets.

Estella was also worried. Seeing Roxanne and Archie's distress, she blinked and tugged on Roxanne's shirt. Roxanne looked down to see Estella, arms outstretched. "Hug me, Ms. Jarvis!"

Roxanne's heart ached. She squatted, pulling both children into a hug, tears blurring her vision.

"Don't be sad, Ms. Jarvis, Daddy will find Benny!" Estella tried to comfort her.

Roxanne patted Estella's head, nodding quietly, fearing her voice would crack.
