Chapter 544
Lucian's face grew grim. He couldn't find Benny in the crowd. While he didn't suspect malice, worry gnawed at him.
"Sir..." The toy vendor shuffled closer, then stopped abruptly, noticing Lucian's expression. The vendor felt inexplicably intimidated, as if Lucian could swallow him whole. Recovering, he cleared his throat and tried to leave, but a large handโLucian'sโseized his shoulder.
The vendor's heart pounded. He cautiously turned. "Sir, h-how may I help you?"
Lucian's gaze was cold. Benny wouldn't be missing if not for this man's appearance. Goosebumps erupted on the vendor's skin under Lucian's intense stare.
"When you sold toys earlier, did you see where the little boy on the far side went?" Lucian asked coolly.
The vendor trembled. "N-No, sir."
Lucian's gaze darkened. His voice hardened. "Leave this resort. Don't return."
Lucian walked away. The vendor, though frightened, dismissed Lucian's threat. He looked like a tourist. Who was he to banish him? He turned to rejoin the crowd, but footsteps approached. A hand clamped his shoulder.
"Excuse me. Our boss said you're not welcome here."
Before he could react, the vendor was being dragged away. Lucian's subordinates, after dealing with the vendor, resumed the search for Benny. They'd received instructions about the resort owner's displeasure; the vendor disrupted the peace, and more importantly, Lucian, a rare visitor, had lost his child in the large crowd.
Everyone searched frantically. "I heard the missing child is a boy, but isn't Mr. Farwell's daughter?" one employee asked, bewildered.
Another replied, "Regardless of gender, Mr. Farwell cares deeply. We must find the child!"
After a half-hour search, they found Benny at a beach concert. He stood calmly beside the band, gazing excitedly at the drum set. The employee questioned whether this was Lucian's lost child; he didn't seem distressed.
Hesitantly, the employee photographed Benny and sent it to his superior. The reply was swift: Watch that child closely. Mr. Farwell is coming.
