While Roxanne bandaged Lucian's wound, she felt his gaze upon her, though she couldn't decipher his thoughts. The nearly empty bottle of red wine from the previous night weighed on her mind, causing her bandaging to be somewhat haphazard.
"Are you done?" Lucian asked, noticing her inaction.
Roxanne regained her composure, forcing a calm expression. "Almost."
Lucian examined the bandage, raising an eyebrow. "Ms. Jarvis, your medical skills seem…selective, wouldn't you say?"
Roxanne blushed, startled by his observation. She opened her mouth to speak, but found herself speechless. Lucian, however, only teased her briefly, letting the matter drop. "It's about time. Why don't you check with them and see where they'd like to go?"
Relieved, Roxanne approached the children, still debating their outing.
"Haven't you decided yet? Shall I offer some suggestions?" she asked gently.
Engrossed in their plans, they didn't notice her until she spoke. Estella immediately inquired about Lucian's injury. "Ms. Jarvis, how's Daddy?"
Roxanne smiled, reassuring her. "It's just a minor injury. I've already bandaged it."
The children looked at Lucian with concern; he nodded. They finally settled their differences, revealing their conflicting desires. Estella wanted to see dolphins at sea, but the boys, wary after the earlier incident, preferred seashell collecting for crafts. Unable to agree, they considered other options.
Roxanne hesitated. Logically, their wishes weren't mutually exclusive; they could see the dolphins and then do the crafts. Yet, like Archie and Benny, she shared their sea-faring concerns, particularly regarding Estella's safety and her own potential responsibility.
She sought Lucian's opinion. He'd overheard their discussion. Meeting her gaze, he approached the children, ruffling their hair. "Since you all have activities you want to do, we'll do them all."
Archie and Benny looked doubtful. "But will it be dangerous for Essie at sea?"
Lucian understood their fear. "It won't be. You'll stay on the yacht. I'll be there to protect you, as will the crew."
The boys remained hesitant, though they secretly longed for a sea trip, having never experienced one. Their concern for Estella had prompted their initial refusal. With their father's approval, however, they readily agreed.
