Chapter 563: The Woman in His Embrace
Roxanne emerged from the water, gasping slightly but with a wide smile. The diving instructor surfaced beside her, grinning. They waved to the anxious group on the yacht, signaling their safety.
Lucian exhaled, his worry easing as his racing heart slowed. He watched the children rush to the yacht's edge, shouting with excitement and relief.
Roxanne climbed the ladder, dripping wet but exhilarated. Archie, Benny, and Estella immediately enveloped her in a tight hug. She laughed, returning their embrace.
"Mommy, are you okay?" Benny asked, his voice filled with concern.
Roxanne nodded, pushing wet hair from her face. "I'm perfectly fine, Benny. It was beautiful! I wish you could have seen it."
Estella clung to her leg, her eyes wide. "I was so scared, Ms. Jarvis. I thought something happened to you."
Roxanne knelt, gently cupping Estella's face. "I'm sorry I worried you, Essie. Everything was fine. The instructor took excellent care of me."
Lucian approached, his expression still tense despite the relief. "Are you sure you're okay? That was longer than expected."
Roxanne stood, meeting his gaze. "I'm fine, Lucian. The instructor showed me the most beautiful parts of the reef. I lost track of time."
The diving instructor confirmed, "She's a natural. Once comfortable, she needed little assistance."
Lucian's eyes softened as he placed a hand on Roxanne's shoulder. "I'm glad you're safe."
Roxanne's heart skipped a beat, but she smiled. "Thank you, Lucian."
The children interrupted, eager to hear about her dive. Roxanne happily described the colorful corals and playful fish, her eyes shining.
Lucian watched her, a mix of admiration and deeper feeling in his gaze. He realized how much he cared for her, despite their complicated past.
That evening, they dined on the yacht, laughter and stories filling the air. Roxanne felt a warmth, grateful for this peace and happiness.
Later, as the children slept, Roxanne stood at the yacht's edge, gazing at the sea. The moon's silvery glow and gentle rocking were soothing.
Lucian joined her, standing silently. He spoke softly, "Thank you for today. The kids had a wonderful time."
Roxanne turned, her expression thoughtful. "I should thank you, Lucian. For everything."
They stood in comfortable silence, the distance between them lessening. Under the starlit sky, they felt a sense of possibilityโa hope that, despite everything, they could move forward together.
The night air was cool, but they remained, content in their quiet moment. The future was uncertain, but they had the sea, the stars, and each other. And that was enough.
