Chapter 574

Archic and Benny walked hand-in-hand with Roxanne, who had been silent the entire journey. The twins worried about her; they sensed her unhappiness, though they didn't know the cause.

“Mommy…” Benny ventured, “Are we not taking Essie with us anymore?”

Roxanne's fear had caused her to forget Estella. Realizing this, she remembered she couldn't return for her. After a moment's hesitation, she caressed Benny's head. “Mr. Farwell will bring Essie home.”

Archic and Benny nodded. “Mommy, why are you sad? Weren't we having fun just now?” they asked. They had noticed Estella and Lucian exchanging gifts, something that should have made Roxanne happy. Instead, she seemed panicked.

Archie frowned, looking up at his mother. “Is it because we gave Mr. Farwell a gift?”

Astonishment flashed in her eyes. Archic squeezed Roxanne's hand; understanding his mother's worry now that he knew about his family background. “We gave Mr. Farwell gifts because he helped us these past two days,” Archic explained seriously. “If you don’t like it, we will avoid Mr. Farwell in the future, Mommy.”

Benny chimed in, “We love you most, Mommy. We won’t like anyone you don’t!”

Despite their words, the twins felt saddened. They’d enjoyed their time with Lucian, who had cared for them well. They wished their parents would reunite, but respected Roxanne's apparent feelings.

Roxanne, touched by their words, hid her fear. She pursed her lips and smiled. “Mommy loves you two most, too.”

Archic and Benny smiled back. Benny, however, glanced back and saw Estella's distressed expression. He quickly tugged at Roxanne’s hand. “Mommy, Essie’s behind us! Should we wait for her?”

Roxanne turned, meeting Lucian’s inscrutable gaze. Her heart clenched, and she quickly looked away, ignoring Estella. “There’s no need. Mr. Farwell is with her,” she told Archic and Benny, suppressing her panic.

Benny, noticing Estella's sadness and fearing Roxanne might avoid her again, wanted to speak, but seeing Roxanne’s expression, remained silent.

Suddenly, Roxanne stopped, turning to Lucian and Estella, who also halted. “Please take the children back, Mr. Farwell. I want to stay here a while,” she said distantly. The thought of sharing a hotel with Lucian filled her with mixed emotions. She decided to stay on the beach to compose herself.
