Hearing Archieโs words, Lucianโs face darkened. โWhere is she? Take us there!โ
Archie instantly ran toward the beach, Estella in his arms. Lucian followed with long strides.
Roxanne worried about Archie, who had run off alone. After a while, she gently said to Benny, โHelp me up. Letโs go look for Archie.โ
Benny shook his head. โYouโre hurt, Mommy. You canโt move. Archie will bring someone soon.โ
Roxanneโs eyebrows furrowed. โIโm worried for Archie. I know you both can take care of yourselves, but Iโll still worry,โ she patiently explained.
Benny hesitated. He didnโt want Roxanneโs injury to worsen, but he also didnโt want her to worry.
Just then, Archieโs voice carried from afar. โMommy! Mommy! Iโve brought someone!โ he shouted, breathless.
Roxanne sighed in relief. Thank goodness he hadnโt gotten lost and had brought help.
โIโm sorry for bothering you. My kids are worried because Iโve been lightly injured,โ Roxanne apologized, unable to clearly see who had arrived.
Before she finished, she heard Estellaโs voice. โMs. Jarvisโฆโ Her voice trembled.
Roxanne was stunned. A ridiculous thought crossed her mind, but the next second, Estellaโs tiny figure appeared. Roxanne subconsciously looked behind her.
In the noonlight, she saw Lucian striding toward them. Her words caught in her throat. She didnโt know how to react; her attempts to avoid him must have been noticed. Yet, here she was, relying on him again. Mixed feelings surged within her.
Archie and Estella quickly ran to her. Estella looked at Roxanne with worry, her gaze falling on Roxanneโs foot. โMs. Jarvis, is your leg hurt?โ she asked softly. She crouched and gently touched the wound. Her eyes reddened, tears welling up.
Roxanne comforted her. โIโm fine. I stepped on a shell. Iโll bandage it, and itโll heal quickly. Donโt be afraid, Estella.โ
Estella bit her lip, worry etched on her face. She looked at her father. โDaddy, Ms. Jarvisโ footโฆโ
Lucian had already arrived and noticed the wound. He remained silent until Estella spoke, then looked at Roxanne.
Roxanne subconsciously met his gaze, then quickly averted her eyes. She smiled nonchalantly. โThe wound isnโt deep. Iโm sorry for troubling you. The kids were anxious and went to look for you. Iโm fine on my own.โ
She turned to the twins. โArchie, Benny, help me up,โ she said seriously.
Both boys noticed her attempt to avoid Lucian, but were more concerned about her injury. They looked at each other hesitantly, remaining still.
