Listen to this chapter:

Hearing Archieโ€™s words, Lucianโ€™s face darkened. โ€œWhere is she? Take us there!โ€

Archie instantly ran toward the beach, Estella in his arms. Lucian followed with long strides.

Roxanne worried about Archie, who had run off alone. After a while, she gently said to Benny, โ€œHelp me up. Letโ€™s go look for Archie.โ€

Benny shook his head. โ€œYouโ€™re hurt, Mommy. You canโ€™t move. Archie will bring someone soon.โ€

Roxanneโ€™s eyebrows furrowed. โ€œIโ€™m worried for Archie. I know you both can take care of yourselves, but Iโ€™ll still worry,โ€ she patiently explained.

Benny hesitated. He didnโ€™t want Roxanneโ€™s injury to worsen, but he also didnโ€™t want her to worry.

Just then, Archieโ€™s voice carried from afar. โ€œMommy! Mommy! Iโ€™ve brought someone!โ€ he shouted, breathless.

Roxanne sighed in relief. Thank goodness he hadnโ€™t gotten lost and had brought help.

โ€œIโ€™m sorry for bothering you. My kids are worried because Iโ€™ve been lightly injured,โ€ Roxanne apologized, unable to clearly see who had arrived.

Before she finished, she heard Estellaโ€™s voice. โ€œMs. Jarvisโ€ฆโ€ Her voice trembled.

Roxanne was stunned. A ridiculous thought crossed her mind, but the next second, Estellaโ€™s tiny figure appeared. Roxanne subconsciously looked behind her.

In the noonlight, she saw Lucian striding toward them. Her words caught in her throat. She didnโ€™t know how to react; her attempts to avoid him must have been noticed. Yet, here she was, relying on him again. Mixed feelings surged within her.

Archie and Estella quickly ran to her. Estella looked at Roxanne with worry, her gaze falling on Roxanneโ€™s foot. โ€œMs. Jarvis, is your leg hurt?โ€ she asked softly. She crouched and gently touched the wound. Her eyes reddened, tears welling up.

Roxanne comforted her. โ€œIโ€™m fine. I stepped on a shell. Iโ€™ll bandage it, and itโ€™ll heal quickly. Donโ€™t be afraid, Estella.โ€

Estella bit her lip, worry etched on her face. She looked at her father. โ€œDaddy, Ms. Jarvisโ€™ footโ€ฆโ€

Lucian had already arrived and noticed the wound. He remained silent until Estella spoke, then looked at Roxanne.

Roxanne subconsciously met his gaze, then quickly averted her eyes. She smiled nonchalantly. โ€œThe wound isnโ€™t deep. Iโ€™m sorry for troubling you. The kids were anxious and went to look for you. Iโ€™m fine on my own.โ€

She turned to the twins. โ€œArchie, Benny, help me up,โ€ she said seriously.

Both boys noticed her attempt to avoid Lucian, but were more concerned about her injury. They looked at each other hesitantly, remaining still.
