Chapter 578

Lucian noticed her behavior, and his grip on her tightened. The three children tugged at his clothes as they followed, their eyes fixed on the woman in his arms.

He carried Roxanne to a nearby clinic and gently placed her in a chair. The doctor, clearly experienced with such injuries, advised Roxanne while cleaning her wound. "It's pleasant to run barefoot on the beach, but it's hard to see what's hidden in the sand at night. Please be more careful in the future."

Roxanne agreed, her face reddening slightly.

"It's not serious, but you must take good care of it. Be careful walking for the next two days, and avoid putting pressure on it. Keep it dry," the doctor instructed, finishing the treatment.

Roxanne winced, trying to endure the pain. Before she could respond to the doctor's advice, Lucian, standing beside her, answered, "All right. Thank you, Doctor."

The doctor, assuming they were married, sincerely advised Lucian, "Go home and take care of your wife. It will be difficult for her to move around with a leg injury."

Roxanne instinctively began to explain, "You've misunderstood. We're notโ€”"

"I will," Lucian interrupted softly.

The doctor chuckled knowingly, observing their reactions. "Are you arguing? If you weren't married, why the grand entrance? I was cleaning her wound, but this man seemed more anxious than she was."

Roxanne frowned, looking up at Lucian, confusion in her eyes. He nodded, paid the bill, and returned to her side.

As he bent over, Roxanne stiffened, about to push him away. "I can walk."

But before she could, she was lifted into his arms. She gasped softly, instinctively gripping his arm.

The doctor watched the scene unfold with a knowing smile. Roxanne frowned, realizing she couldn't overpower Lucian. She stopped struggling, offering a slightly awkward smile to the doctor, allowing Lucian to carry her from the clinic.

The three children carried Roxanne's shoes, hurrying behind Lucian.

Once at the hotel, Lucian set Roxanne on the couch. The children immediately surrounded her. "Mommy!"

Roxanne, still grappling with the events, saw their worried faces. She forced a reassuring smile. "I'm okay. It's just a small injury. Didn't you hear the doctor? I just need to rest for two days. It was my fault for being careless. There's no need to blame yourselves."

The children pouted, their sadness evident.

"Pack your things. We're going home," Lucian announced.

The children instantly obeyed, running upstairs to pack. Roxanne, however, frowned. "Weren't we going to the hot springs?"

Lucian frowned. "You're injured. How are you supposed to go to the hot springs?"

"Even if I can't go, the kids can. Take them. I can wait here. They shouldn't end the trip early because of me," Roxanne said, looking towards the stairs where the children had gone.

Lucian coldly rejected, "We can always come back next time." He left no room for argument, heading upstairs to help the children pack.
