Chapter 607

After Jonathan spent the entire night analyzing the situation for Lucian, the latter finally agreed, a frown creasing his brow. On the way home, Lucian replayed Jonathan's words in his mind. It wasn't that he didn't want to humble himself before Estella; she simply irritated him to the point of losing control. Reflecting on this, remorse washed over him. He realized he needed to control his temper; after all, he was responsible for their strained relationship.

By the time he reached the Farwell residence, it was nearly ten o'clock. Estella was usually asleep by then. However, as he opened the mansion door, he heard her bedroom door open simultaneously. He looked up to see her standing on tiptoe, her lips pursed, gazing down at him. Lucian's brows furrowed quizzically when their eyes met. Dismissing his thoughts of Roxanne, he removed his shoes and went upstairs to her.

"Why aren't you sleeping yet?"

Estella looked up at her father, her eyes sparkling with innocence. "When are we going to see Ms. Jarvis again?"

Lysa had picked up the brothers from school earlier. Hearing about Roxanne's injury, Pippa had asked Lysa out of concern. Estella, who had planned to visit Roxanne in two days, overheard their conversation and immediately wanted to go to Roxanne's side. She had initially planned to ask Lucian to take her after school but hadn't expected to miss him. So, she waited for him to tell him her plan.

Hearing her request, Lucian pondered before a gentle light flickered in his eyes. "I'll take you there after work."

Estella's lips pursed, and she gave him a hesitant look. "But Ms. Jarvis's injury will have healed by then."

Thinking of Roxanne's wound, Lucian's heart sank, his face falling into a grim expression. He wondered if her earlier anger had hindered her recovery.

"Daddy..." Estella tugged at his sleeve anxiously.

Lucian ruffled her hair. "Essie, do you trust me?"

She paused before slowly nodding.

Lucian sighed in quiet relief. "Ms. Jarvis needs a few days' rest. She'll also be tired from caring for the brothers. Visiting her now would only interrupt her rest. If you truly want her to recover quickly, listen to me. We'll visit her together after I finish work."

Despite a half-hearted nod, Estella's longing for Roxanne was evident in her wistful expression. Stroking her cheeks, Lucian leaned down to hold her hand. "If you're worried, you can ask the boys about her condition."

To further reassure her, Lucian made a statement he didn't entirely believe: "Now that Ms. Jarvis is no longer avoiding us, I'll take you to see her whenever you want after work."

Finally convinced, Estella nodded obediently.

As Lucian watched her fall asleep, his expression gradually darkened.
