Chapter 612

Over the next few days, when Lysa collected Archie and Benny from school, they encountered the same flower shop employee. Despite Roxanne's repeated instructions to return the flowers, Lysa stubbornly brought each bouquet inside to show Roxanne. Lysa believed the flowers represented Lucian's feelings; even if Roxanne wouldn't accept them, she needed to see proof of his sincerity. After several failed deliveries, the employee simply waited outside Roxanne's house to receive the returned flowers, eliminating Lysa's trips to the florist.

When the weekend arrived, Roxanne expected the flower deliveries to cease. She was surprised, therefore, by the early morning doorbell. Lysa had the weekend off, leaving only Roxanne and her two sons at home. Initially, no one answered. Roxanne awoke groggily, conflicted emotions churning as the doorbell persisted. The flower shop employee always arrived at this time.

Roxanne considered ignoring the doorbell, believing it would clearly communicate her feelings. However, she heard the patter of footsteps in the living room. The ringing stopped abruptly, followed by muffled children's voices.

Archie and Benny, already awake, had remained in their room to avoid disturbing their mother. Hearing the doorbell, they worried about waking Roxanne and hurried downstairs to answer. They didn't check who was there before opening the door.

The boys were speechless at the sight of the enormous bouquet of roses. Even they understood the significance of roses. Someone had given Mommy roses! They exchanged curious glances. Are we getting a new daddy soon? The same thought occurring simultaneously, they turned to the door.

They were about to ask who sent the flowers when Roxanne called from behind, "Please send the flowers back."

The boys jumped at her voice. Mommy's sending the flowers back without even looking? Roxanne avoided her sons' expressions as she approached the door, smiling politely at the employee. "Thank you, and sorry for the trouble."

The employee stared, awestruck. He finally saw the recipient of his week-long deliveries. The woman before him wore a simple yet elegant nightgown. Her hair was artfully disheveled, and her striking features, even without makeup, were captivating. He instantly understood Lucian's persistence.

Benny then innocently asked, "Sir, may I know who sent these flowers?"

The employee snapped out of his trance, but Roxanne interrupted, "If there's nothing else, I'm taking the children inside. Sorry." She closed the door, wanting to shield her children from Lucian's actions.

"Mommy?" Archie and Benny stared, confused. Roxanne, affecting nonchalance, ruffled their hair. "I don't know who gave me the flowers either, but I don't plan on keeping them."

The boys exchanged a suspicious glance. They knew their mother well; this didn't seem like her first anonymous delivery. In fact, she seemed scared. What is Mommy so scared about?
