Chapter 620
After exiting the car, Roxanne wanted to return the bouquet to Lucian, but he had already turned and entered the restaurant. Seeing this, Roxanne could only keep the flowers. They entered the restaurant one after another. A server quickly led them to Lucian's reserved table.
For some reason, Roxanne felt uneasy. Many patrons were glancing at them, drawn to their appearance and demeanor. Aware of the attention, Roxanne scanned her surroundings, puzzled. Seconds later, she realized the source of her unease: they looked like a couple, and out of place.
She was annoyed when the server announced, "This is our most popular couples' meal. Would you like to try it?" Lucian didn't correct the server; he agreed, adding a few side dishes.
Hearing their exchange, Roxanne snapped to attention. Frowning, she looked at Lucian, then at the server, explaining, "There's a misunderstanding. I'm not hisโ"
Before she could finish, the server, looking envious, interrupted, "Miss, those flowers are beautiful. You're so lucky!" Roxanne was speechless. By the time she could continue, the server had already left. The other diners continued to stare.
Roxanne felt increasingly uncomfortable under their scrutiny. "Why did you choose this restaurant?" she asked.
Lucian smiled slightly. "I was craving the food here."
Roxanne frowned, wanting to question him further, but the server arrived with their meal. With no other option, Roxanne fell silent, a troubled expression clouding her face as she looked at the couples' meal.
Lucian, seated opposite her, noticed her troubled expression. His own face darkened, and he remained silent, beginning to eat. Roxanne, concerned about his gastritis, remained quiet, observing his focused eating.
After a while, noticing Lucian was nearly finished, she said, "Mr. Farwell, it's getting late. I think we should discuss business."
Lucian paused, furrowing his brow. "What is it?"
"Please stop sending me flowers. I don't like them, and I don't think it's appropriate," Roxanne said, lowering her gaze.
Lucian stared at her. "Then what do you like, if not flowers?"
Roxanne was stunned, quickly regaining her composure and giving him a confused look. Lucian is intelligent; he must know what I mean. Why is he asking? What is he up to? She clenched her fists, controlling her temper. "That's none of your concern, Mr. Farwell. We're not close. Please be mindful of your actions and don't put me in an awkward position."
Lucian's gaze hardened at her firm rejection. Roxanne pursed her lips, looking at him expectantly.
