Chapter 628

Early the following day, after freshening up, Roxanne left the bedroom and found Archie and Benny waiting at the door.

โ€œMommy!โ€ Their eyes lit up with excitement. They were eager for Roxanne to take them to school, as it had been some time.

Remembering their conversation the previous night, Roxanne's heart softened. She lowered her gaze and patted their heads. โ€œHurry downstairs for breakfast. I'll send you to school later.โ€

The boys nodded vigorously. During breakfast, they were unusually obedient. After they finished, Roxanne changed clothes and took them to kindergarten.

Arriving outside, Roxanne saw many children with their parents. She recalled asking the boys to follow Lysa to avoid Lucian some time ago, and felt a pang of guilt. They must have been upset.

โ€œMs. Jarvis,โ€ Pippa greeted her warmly. โ€œItโ€™s been a while. I heard from Archie and Benny that you hurt your foot. How is it?โ€

Roxanne smiled. โ€œThank you for your concern, Ms. Ward. Iโ€™m almost completely healed.โ€

While they talked, Archie and Benny held Roxanneโ€™s hand tightly, searching for Estella. Estella had been looking forward to seeing her mother the previous day; today would surely bring joy.

However, after a long search, she was nowhere to be seen. Then Roxanne noticed the boysโ€™ actions. She realized that staying longer might mean encountering Lucian and Estella. She could manage seeing Estella, but facing Lucian after yesterday's events was daunting.

She wanted to leave, but before she could speak, Archie and Benny tightened their grip on her hands. Roxanne's heart pounded; she could barely turn her head.

โ€œMs. Jarvis!โ€ Lucianโ€™s car had pulled up nearby.

Estella jumped out of the passenger seat, bagless, and ran towards Roxanne.

Archie and Benny tugged Roxanneโ€™s hands, exclaiming, โ€œMommy! Essie is here!โ€

Roxanne, unable to remain composed, turned to see Estella, her face alight with excitement. Behind her, Lucian, carrying a small school bag, approached, his gaze fixed on Roxanne.

Their eyes met; Roxanne quickly looked away. Estella had already reached her, hugging her leg. โ€œMs. Jarvis, your feetโ€ฆโ€ Worry clouded the girl's face.

However, Roxanneโ€™s attention remained on Lucian. She felt his gaze even from a distance, and her smile felt forced as she reassured Estella. โ€œIโ€™m feeling much better now. You donโ€™t have to worry, Essie.โ€

Estellaโ€™s gaze remained on Roxanne's feet. Roxanne, wanting to reassure her, smiled and carefully rotated her foot. โ€œLook, Essie. I donโ€™t feel any pain at all.โ€

Finally, Estella relaxed, lifting her head to smile sweetly at Roxanne.
