Chapter 632

Fewer than a dozen doctors attended the event, though slightly more than a dozen were present. Roxanne recognized several from the previous consultation. She hadn't met the others, but the Damaris family's collaboration with them implied significant expertise. She smiled politely at the group.

"Who are these two, Mr. Damaris?" someone asked, rising. "Will they also be working with us?" A hint of doubt colored the voice. Roxanne, though accustomed to such skepticism, felt a tightening of anxiety. They were on Jack's turf, and she worried about potentially jeopardizing his position.

Jack addressed the questioner. "This is Dr. Jarvis, and this is Dr. Morrison. They'll be working with us. I hope you'll all cooperate."

The assembled doctors gasped, staring dubiously at Roxanne and Larry, particularly the woman who had voiced her doubt. Jack subtly checked with Roxanne and Larry, gauging whether he should intercede. They smiled and shook their heads. Given the other doctors' seniority, their questions were understandable.

Jack explained, "These doctors participated in the last consultation with the Damaris family. Some also worked in other regions; hence, you may not have met them." Roxanne and Larry nodded.

"Now that everyone's here, let's begin our discussion," Jack announced, indicating the table. He seated himself at the head, other doctors flanking him according to seniority. Roxanne and Larry moved to the seats opposite Jack.

"Dr. Jarvis and Dr. Morrison," Jack called out as they were about to sit, "over here."

The room was startled. Roxanne hesitated, then saw the doctor next to Jack—Daniel Hopp, from the previous consultation—offer his seat. Daniel, aware of their expertise, clearly deemed them worthy of the position. The other doctors, though initially perplexed, deferred to Daniel's action.

Roxanne and Larry exchanged glances, understanding that refusing would appear ungrateful. They seated themselves to Jack's left and right.

"I've reviewed your acupuncture treatment from the last consultation," Daniel said quietly, yet audibly, "and have some questions. Would you be willing to discuss it after the banquet?"

The awe in the room was palpable as they witnessed Daniel seek Roxanne's guidance.
