Chapter 643

As soon as Jessica said that, before anyone could react, she lunged toward Roxanne. Jack had just pushed her closer, leaving no one between them. By the time Larry, hearing the commotion, turned around, Jessica was a hairโ€™s breadth from Roxanne.

โ€œRoxanne, watch out!โ€ Larry shouted, just managing to pull Roxanne behind him. Simultaneously, Jack grabbed Jessicaโ€™s arm. โ€œAre you done?โ€

Jessica lunged at empty space, earning Jackโ€™s rebuke. Her anger peaked; she burst into tears, pointing at Roxanne and cursing. Hotel patrons, noticing the commotion, stopped to watch.

Roxanne, heart racing behind Larry, saw the growing crowd and knew she had to intervene. The potential for damaging rumors spurred her to action. Taking a deep breath, she stepped forward.

โ€œHow dare you! This is all because of you. You seduced Jack!โ€ Jessica shrieked.

Jack frowned, tightening his grip on her arm. Unsure how to handle the situation, he was overwhelmed. Then, Roxanneโ€™s calm voice cut through the chaos.

โ€œMs. Hightower, Iโ€™ve already told you weโ€™re only business partners, friends at most. If I were seducing Mr. Damaris, Mr. Morrison wouldnโ€™t be here.โ€

Roxanne pinched her palm, regaining composure. โ€œMoreover, even if I were with Mr. Damaris, you have no right to act like this. Who are you to judge me?โ€

Her question struck home. Tears streamed down Jessicaโ€™s face; she couldnโ€™t speak. Desperately, she clutched Jackโ€™s shirt, whispering, โ€œJack, I like you. How could you do this to me?โ€

Despite his politeness, Jack could no longer maintain his composure with the drunk, disruptive woman. He swallowed, frowning silently, restraining himself as Jessica clung to him.

Just then, a group of men in suits exited the hotel. The leader, having been chatting with others, saw the crowd blocking the entrance. His expression turned cold. He addressed the hotel manager, โ€œWhatโ€™s going on? Why is the entrance blocked this late?โ€

The manager, glancing at the manโ€”Mr. Farwellโ€”explained weakly, โ€œSomeoneโ€™s drunk and causing a scene. Weโ€™ve tried to intervene, butโ€ฆโ€ The hotelโ€™s clientele were influential; staff dared not use force, and their pleas were ineffective. Hesitantly, the manager suggested, โ€œMr. Farwell, perhaps you could use the staff entrance. Itโ€™ll be quicker.โ€

Lucian glanced at the crowd, his brow furrowed in disdain.
