Chapter 642

โ€œJessica, what are you doing?โ€ Jack stood before Roxanne, his expression grim.

Jessica, drunk and disinhibited, grew even angrier when she saw Jack defending Roxanne. Despite this, she remained superficially gentle with him. โ€œMove aside, Jack! This has nothing to do with you.โ€ She even attempted a smile.

Jack frowned. โ€œJessica, weโ€™re in public; please control yourself. Go home if youโ€™re drunk.โ€ He glanced at Jessicaโ€™s friends, a silent request for their intervention.

They understood and approached cautiously. However, Jessica spotted them. โ€œGet lost, all of you!โ€ she shouted hysterically, then turned to the space behind Jack. โ€œCome out here, Roxanne! What are you scared of?โ€

Roxanne frowned. โ€œMs. Hightower, please sober up. Iโ€™m only friends with Mr. Damaris.โ€ Even if they were more than friends, Jessica had no right to interfere. Their relationship was none of Jessica's concern; Jessica's feelings for Jack were purely her own.

โ€œFriends?โ€ Jessica scoffed. โ€œYou have plenty of friends, donโ€™t you? Itโ€™s late, and Mr. Morrison and Jack are still with you. I knew it! Youโ€™re a minx, pursuing two men at once. You're smug, arenโ€™t you?โ€

The trioโ€™s faces darkened.

โ€œJessica Hightower,โ€ Jack boomed, โ€œMind your language. Roxanne is a business partner and friend; we have no romantic involvement. What nonsense are you saying?โ€

Jessica was stunned. โ€œJack, what are you talking about? I like you!โ€ She moved closer, arms outstretched to hug him.

Jack instinctively pushed her away. Jessica stumbled, speechless.

Roxanneโ€™s frown deepened. She wanted to comfort Jessica, but Larry restrained her. โ€œRoxanne, you canโ€™t always be kind.โ€

Roxanne had never heard such an icy tone from Larry. Considering Jessica's animosity, Roxanne remained where she was.

โ€œYouโ€™re drunk!โ€ Jack shouted, controlling his anger as he watched the stunned woman lean against the wall. โ€œGo home, and Iโ€™ll pretend this never happened.โ€

Realizing the gravity of the situation, Jessicaโ€™s friends rushed forward.

โ€œJessica, Mr. Damaris is angry. Letโ€™s go.โ€

โ€œMr. Damaris, Dr. Jarvis, weโ€™re so sorry. Jessicaโ€™s drunk; please donโ€™t blame her.โ€

Their pleas and apologies overlapped. They tried to support Jessica, but before they could reach her, she straightened, using the wall for support. They sighed in relief, believing she had sobered. โ€œJessicaโ€”โ€

โ€œItโ€™s all because of you!โ€ Jessica glared at Roxanne. โ€œYou bitch! If not for you, Jack wouldnโ€™t treat me like this!โ€
