Chapter 659
Madilyn was unaware of the recent events between Roxanne and Lucian. However, Roxanne's expression revealed the source of her distress. After a pause, Madilyn earnestly suggested, "If that's the case, why don't you consider dating him?"
Madilyn, not being Roxanne, found it easier to accept Lucian's feelings than Roxanne herself. Since Roxanne's return, Madilyn had witnessed them together several times and had to admit they looked good as a couple. If Lucian genuinely wished to atone for his past mistakes, Madilyn wouldn't mind her best friend giving him a chance. She sensed Roxanne couldn't refuse him because of his bond with the children. In Madilyn's view, Roxanne might as well try dating him; they could always break up if it didn't work. At least they'd have tried.
Roxanne, oblivious to Madilyn's thoughts, looked panicked at the suggestion. Madilyn, preoccupied with weighing the pros and cons, barely noticed. After considering it, she patted Roxanne's shoulder, saying solemnly, "I mean it. If Mr. Farwell has changed his mind and wants to pursue you, you don't have to reject him because of what happened six years ago. You can still consider dating him."
Roxanne's frown deepened. Madilyn was about to continue when she remembered the boys. She waved them away. "Go play for a while. I have something important to discuss with your mommy." The boys, sensing the gravity of the situation, innocently complied.
Once they were gone, Madilyn continued, "If Mr. Farwell is sincere, I don't see why you can't give him a chance. Besides, you don't have anyone else, and he's the children's father. You might even find yourself attracted to him. If it doesn't work out, you can break up. It's not a big deal."
Roxanne voiced her concern, "But how would I know if he's sincere? He already has a fiancรฉe, Aubree."
Madilyn frowned, her expression serious. "If you give him a chance and get to know him, you'll find out. As for Aubree..."
She hesitated, recalling Lucian's past treatment of Aubree. As an outsider, she doubted Lucian would easily abandon Aubree. Yet...
After a pause, Madilyn reluctantly said, "Though I can't condone how he treated you six years ago, it also showed he wouldn't let someone he loves feel wronged. So, if he truly cares for you, he'll explain things to Aubree."
