Chapter 661: Accidentally Ruined

Roxanne smiled at Estella before meeting Lucian's gaze. He was impeccably dressed in a custom-made black suit, his hair neatly styled, accentuating his handsome features. His initial hostility seemed to soften when their eyes met. "Good morning," he said. Roxanne nodded, a slight purse of her lips. "Good morning. Why are you—"

Estella interrupted excitedly, "I'm here with Daddy to pick you all up!" She peered into the house curiously. "Where are Archie and Benny? Are they still in bed?"

Roxanne patted the girl's head, then gestured hesitantly, inviting them in. "They're up and getting ready upstairs. They'll be down soon. Come in, Essie. You can wait inside."

Estella pulled Lucian into the mansion. He cast Roxanne a mysterious glance as they passed. Roxanne frowned, narrowing her eyes silently. He said he'd bring the children himself. He agreed! And now he's here to pick us up? I can't even refuse because he brought Estella. Two days ago, she'd felt hesitant about his compromise, but now regretted her hesitation. He was clearly still as domineering as ever.

After seating them in the living room, she politely poured them water before returning to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for the boys. Soon, Archie and Benny came bounding down the stairs, greeting Lucian politely before running off to play with Estella. Their excited chatter helped Roxanne relax, easing her mind of the adult in the living room.

Breakfast was ready. As Roxanne was about to serve, a large hand reached out from behind, taking the plates. She froze. So engrossed in ignoring Lucian, she hadn't anticipated his close attention, his help in the kitchen. A rush of emotions overwhelmed her.

The boys, seeing the food on the table, immediately sat down. Estella, too, seated herself beside Roxanne as if at home. Roxanne, confused, asked, "Haven't you had breakfast, Essie?"

Estella nodded innocently. "Daddy says we're going out for breakfast together."

Roxanne was stunned. Lucian, realizing Estella had revealed his plans, could only frown and avoid Roxanne's gaze. The truth dawned on Roxanne: Lucian had planned their day without telling her. He'd broken his promise, bringing Estella to collect them. She'd accidentally ruined his plans.

For a moment, the awkwardness hung heavy. Unaware of the tension, Estella took a bite of Roxanne's cooking. "Mm! Ms. Jarvis' cooking is the best!"
