Chapter 667

Frieda and Hasso watched Roxanne and the others enter the concert venue. Livid, Frieda snapped several pictures and sent them to Aubree.

Aubree, already simmering from previous photos, was incensed by the new images. The pictures showed Lucian and Roxanne entering a renowned city auditorium with three children; her head throbbed. She had secured tickets to that very concertโ€”for herself and Lucianโ€”but he'd declined her invitation without explanation. Aubree had attributed his refusal to work commitments and given the tickets to a friend. She never suspected he'd rejected her to attend the concert with Roxanne.

Staring at the photos, Aubree was beside herself when Frieda called. Answering with a scowl, she heard Frieda's displeasure.

"Did you see the pictures I sent?"

"Where did you see them?" Aubree asked through gritted teeth.

Frieda recounted the afternoon's events. "Roxanne's going overboard! She's ignoring you! Mrs. Farwell warned her, but instead of repenting, she's become even closer to Lucian and Essie."

Learning they'd even had lunch together, Aubree exploded. "That bitch!"

"I worked hard to convince Mrs. Farwell to warn Roxanne, yet she doesn't seem to learn," she lamented. "You must be careful, Aubree," Frieda cautioned. "Roxanne is Lucian's ex-wife and Essie's mother. Now that Essie's so attached to Roxanne... perhaps..."

She let the implication hang, and Aubree understood. Perhaps Roxanne and Essie already knew their relationship. And Lucian was investigating the accident. If he discovered the truth, Aubree would undoubtedly lose him.

Panic seized Aubree. "Impossible!"

Eager to see Roxanne punished, Frieda fanned the flames. "I hope that's not the case. But seeing how close they are, it's not impossible for Lucian to fall for her again, especially since she's so cunning. I'm warning you so you can prepare. You're the one best suited for Lucian! Who does Roxanne think she is?"

Aubree's hands trembled with rage. "Thanks for the warning. I got it!"

After a few more words from Frieda, Aubree hung up, satisfied. Even with the phone screen dark, the images remained seared in her mind. "Roxanne, you bitch! Just you wait!" Her distorted reflection stared back from the black screen.
