Chapter 671: Hold Her Tighter

Roxanne rejoined the children at the fountain. Many adults were playing with their children; the area buzzed with laughter. The heartwarming scene brought a smile to her face. However, Lucian stood apart, an immobile figure amidst the children's playful chaos. He remained emotionless, a wooden pillar at the center of their swirling activity.

Roxanne chuckled, shaking her head. She joined the children, her presence instantly lessening the space around Lucian. His expression softened, a slight quirk to his lips as he watched her interact with them.

โ€œMommy!โ€ โ€œMs. Jarvis!โ€

The children stopped, turning to her with confusion. Lucian frowned at the sound of their voices, only to see Roxanne, soaked and smiling, beside a water pump. The children's initial shock melted into giggles at her amused expression.

โ€œStupid Mommy!โ€ Archie pulled her aside. The freezing water had caused a momentary lapse in her senses. Looking back, she found the situation as humorous as the children did.

As laughter filled the air, a coat draped over Roxanne's shoulders. Sensing the sudden warmth, she pulled it around herself, then turned to see Lucian.

โ€œThanks for the coat, Mr. Farwell,โ€ she said awkwardly.

Lucian, sensing her desire for distance, addressed the children. โ€œYou three play by yourselves for a while. Be careful not to get wet.โ€

The children, noticing the intimacy between Roxanne and Lucian, readily complied. He then gently but firmly guided Roxanne away from the fountain, not giving her a chance to protest.

Roxanne tensed, aware of their proximity. Her attempt to escape only resulted in his tightening his hold.

โ€œI can walk by myself. Please let me go, Mr. Farwell,โ€ she said calmly, scanning her surroundings.

Lucian's voice, low and close to her ear, responded. โ€œDo you want other people to see how foolish you are, Ms. Jarvis? Even children wouldn't get drenched like that. You were soaked and didn't even react.โ€

Roxanne blushed. She wanted to explain her momentary lapse in judgment but feared it would only make her appear more inept. She allowed him to lead her away from the crowd.
