Chapter 689
โHello there,โ Jack said, softening his tone at the childrenโs politeness.
The two children straightened, looking curiously at Jack. Roxanne smiled. โThis is Mr. Damaris, a colleague of mine.โ
Reassured, the boys greeted Jack again. Jack patted their heads. โIโm in a rush, and I didnโt expect to see you both today. I should have brought you gifts! Next time, I promise. Iโll get you both something nice.โ
The children nodded obediently. โThank you, Mr. Damaris.โ
Jack smiled at the boys before signaling to Roxanne that they should leave. Roxanne turned to the children. โIโll be off now. Why donโt you both go back inside?โ
Roxanne and Jack left in the car. Archie and Benny waited until it was out of sight before returning to the mansion.
โArchie, I think Mr. Damaris is quite handsome,โ Benny said, rubbing his eyes, suddenly more alert.
Archie raised an eyebrow, recalling the man. He was handsome, with a style similar to their fatherโs, but gentler. And, as Mommy had implied, he was from the Damaris familyโthe one she had longed for. He must be very capable.
Benny murmured, โIs he pursuing Mommy, too? If so, itโll be even harder for Daddy!โ
Roxanne already resented Lucian. Another competitor would only increase Benny and Archieโs worry for their father.
โIf thatโs true,โ Archie said, โit just proves Mommyโs a good person. Thatโs why so many people like her!โ
โBut what about Daddy?โ Benny worried. โI prefer Daddy. Should we remind him?โ
Lucian was slowly winning Roxanne over, but she still didn't fully trust him. The boys saw their fatherโs efforts, and coupled with Estella's presence, they were naturally biased toward Lucian.
Archie and Benny exchanged conflicted glances. Should they warn their father? What if they didn't, and Jack took their mother away? But how could they even begin to do that?
The problem overwhelmed the gifted children. For the first time, they understood why adults got headaches.
Archie sighed. โIf Daddy wants Mommy, heโll notice someone else is interested. This is a grown-up problem. If we tell Daddy, he might feel embarrassed. I think we should say nothing.โ
Benny nodded solemnly. โThatโs right. Daddyโs great, and heโll definitely win Mommy over! He might have already figured this out.โ
They weren't sure if they were guessing or convincing themselves. Ultimately, they concluded that no matter how many suitors appeared, Lucian would win.
Despite previous prejudices, their time with Lucian had convinced them of his sincerity towards Roxanne. With sincerity, looks, and capability, they believed Roxanne would choose Lucian.
